“You don’t like fire, or you do like fire? … You love fire? In the script, you’re supposed to hate fire! Why do you like fire?! You’re ruining my movie!”

Apparently, it was mentioned in the movie script that the snakes are scared of fire, however, the snakes on set were rather warming up to the on-set torches, leading Steven Spielberg to get frustrated at them for ruining the movie shoot. But thanks to the snakes being on their best behavior, the cast was able to shoot the movie without too much trouble.

During the shoot of Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Arkthere was a particular scene that required a ‘snake-infested chamber’. For this, Steven Spielberg called for over 9,000 snakes which were a combination of both rubber snakes as well as real snakes, so basically the ground would be covered completely in snakes.

However, most of the snakes that were called were not poisonous, except the cobras, which posed to be a real threat. With the cobras’ arrival, everyone on the set of the movie got very alert about the situation, even when they had more than a few reptile experts on sets along with antivenom serum.

While none of the crew got severely injured on the sets, thanks to the proper protection arranged, the Indiana Jones franchise’s cast’s hard work certainly paid off with the snake-infested chamber scene being one of the most loved scenes throughout the movie.
