Following a murder trial that became the talk of the decade, Simpson was acquitted of the murders but he was later charged with kidnapping and robbery in 2007. The NFL player recently passed away and there are already plans to turn his life into a film! In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Joshua Newton, the director of the project talked about Owen Wilson’s reaction to the O.J. Simpson film.

“Owen Wilson was perfect for the role. I actually had a meeting with him in Santa Monica. Everybody loved the script. His agent wanted him to do it. We offered him $12 million.”

He further continued,

“But at the end of the lunch, Owen stood up and said, ‘If you think I’m going to take the lead role in a movie about how O.J. didn’t do it, you’ve got to be kidding me.’”

Well, it seems that Owen Wilson wasn’t in a kidding mood after all! On the other hand, iconic director Wes Anderson talked about his chance encounter with Owen Wilson and dedicated his Oscar win to the Shanghai Knights actor!

“And also I would have said: if i had not met Owen Wilson in a corridor at the University of Texas between classes when I was 18 years old, I would certainly not be receiving this award tonight”

Well, it seems that Owen Wilson is certainly out of the picture for O.J. Simpson but there are several other actors who might want to tackle the role after all. Director Joshua Newton hopes that the O.J. Simpson film will be expected to be completed by 3 October 2024. Meanwhile, Owen Wilson Starred alongside Tom Hiddleston and received much love and fame from the world for Loki.
