Baki Hanma vs Kengen Ashura has been the talk of the town ever since Netflix first announced the legendary collaboration and with its release date nearing, anticipation has only grown manifolds. Keisuke Itagaki’s work has always been regarded as one of the best when it comes to sports anime and manga. Having taken inspiration from Ashita no Joe, he learned from the best to become one of the best himself.
The series has always had a lot to offer to its fans. From the gripping fights to the character dynamics, it is a mixture of action and emotions all at the same time. The motivation that drives Baki like no other is the goal to equal his own father. With the growing anticipation of the collaboration project, many might forget that another anime is in the works.
Baki Hanma’s Sequel Anime
Baki Hanma vs Kengen Ashura is a battle unlike any other. Fans have eagerly been waiting for the upcoming anime to release and there is no denying that each and every fight would hold great value. Three different fights with three of the toughest fighters in their respective animes, settling once and for all which one is stronger. However, that would easily overshadow the fact that TMS Entertainment has another sequel in the works.
Baki Dou was a sequel anime announced by the animation studio. Standing as the fourth major arc of Keisuke Itagaki’s story, the sequel series would go on directly after the second season of the original series (via Crunchyroll). While there is not much known about it, the anime certainly poses as an addition to the author’s prized works.
This sequel series would take in the prospects of necromancy, revival and the competition between both Baki and Yuujiro were yearning for.
“The Wind Came Out of the Cloud by Night”
Baki Dou follows the concept of the long-since-buried Miyamoto Musashi getting revived through the means of necromancy and science. Taking place right after the match between Yuujiro and Baki, the protagonist and all his opponents find themselves in a slump of boredom, unable to see fit a formidable opponent.
With the rise of Miyamoto Musashi, things were definitely about to change. While not much is revealed about the anime, the premise certainly puts into question a tough battle that the father-son duo have perhaps never even thought about. The revival of the swordsman would give them the kind of thrill they had been yearning for.
While on one side you would have Baki Hanma going up against Ohma Tokita, on the other side, TMS Entertainment is also working diligently on the fight that would send chills down every fan’s spine.
Baki Hanma vs Kengen Ashura will be available to watch on Netflix from 6th June 2024.
