The DC Studios have been in a bit of a predicament for quite some time now. From the changing scenarios to movies not performing as well as hoped, things haven’t been the best for the DC Universe. The most recent victim of it all is Zachary Levi’s Shazam! Fury of the Gods, which has not been performing too well at the box office.

On a quest to bring the truth forward, Zachary Levi has recently been quite forward about everything going on behind the scenes of the studios. Owing to this, Zachary Levi took a trip to memory lane where he talked about the cameo in Shazam 1 that could have been. While the film saw a headless Superman, Zachary Levi has now revealed that the team did try to get Henry Cavill on board before the idea was “thwarted” by those who shall remain unnamed. With Dwayne Johnson currently being blamed for ruining things for Shazam, we wonder if the actor had something to do with this, as well.

Remember the scene from the first Shazam film where Bill surprised Freddy in his school cafeteria and brought a friend, Superman, along? Well, while the Superman in the scene was shown just from below the neck, Zachary Levi revealed that it was actually supposed to be Henry Cavill. Talking to his fans on his Instagram Live, Levi stated that he has his team were thwarted from achieving that.

“We tried desperately to get Henry Cavill in the first movie. He wasn’t a headless Superman because we wanted him to be a headless Superman. We were thwarted. All of these hard-working people were thwarted. We were not allowed to have that happen, ok? That was not on us. That was not because we didn’t want that to happen for you. Listen guys, I am a comic nerd. I’ve been growing up with this stuff. I love all this stuff. I want to blow all of your minds with all the cross and all the goods and trust me, it bummed me out greatly when we couldn’t get Henry Cavill. I wanted him so bad in the first movie and we couldn’t get him. That was not because we didn’t try. It was not because we chose not to have him there. That was not on us.”

Levi didn’t name any names but one might speculate that Dwayne Johnson could have had something to do with that. This speculation might not be too far-fetched thanks to a story recently shared by Levi. Levi shared The Wrap’s report on his Instagram story which talked about how Johnson sabotaged things for Shazam.

The Wrap released a report stating Johnson “Kneecapped Black Adam and Shazam 2” in his quest of shaking things up at the DCU. The report stated that the Red Notice actor was trying to “restructure the DCEU” to revolve around Black Adam and Cavill’s Superman. It also mentions that Johnson denied the appearance of the Justice Society in Shazam 2, which led to a last-minute change of plans, altogether. The report further stated that Johnson didn’t approve of Levi’s cameo in Black Adam.

Levi shared this report from The Wrap on his Instagram story and captioned it, “The truth shall set you free.” However, during his Instagram Live, Levi clarified that the motive behind sharing the report was not to blame anyone for how things were going.

It sure looks like Johnson has found himself in a pickle! Do you think the wrestler-turned-actor has anything to do with what happened with Cavill’s Superman and Shazam? Did Johnson’s supposed desire to keep Black Adam and Cavill’s Superman at the center of the DCU, ruin a lot of things?
