Zack Snyder, known for starting the DC Extended Universe with Man of Steel, is one of those unlucky talents who never gets his share of the cake. Even though some refer to him as an ineffective storyteller, there is still a dedicated fanbase who wants the SnyderVerse to be restored.
Now, Snyder fans have come forward to express their anguish after director Patty Jenkins consistently takes credit for everything associated with Gal Gadot, even though it was Snyder who introduced the military veteran as Wonder Woman in Batman v Superman.
Zack Snyder Is hated Unless The Consensus Likes It
Zack Snyder is the man who introduced Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman in the 2016 movie, Batman v Superman. While Snyder wrote the story for Wonder Woman’s standalone movie in 2017, Patty Jenkins took the director’s mantle and then came up with its sequel: Wonder Woman 1984 (2020).
As DC fans continue to credit Jenkins for taking an evolutionary approach to the character’s origin, some still feel that it is biased to give all credit to Jenkins for everything associated with Gal Gadot. One fan tweeted:
“Crazy how Zack Snyder cast Gal as Wonder Woman and introduced her in Batman v Superman but Patty is consistently given all the credit for everything associated with Gal.”
The same fan also tweeted, “She also said this. She is not a visionary director at all.” Another fan chimed in, “.. we “the cult”, are the only ones aware of it. Anything Snyder does is hated unless “the consensus” likes it; then it’s from someone else.” Here are a few more tweets:
Like seriously Patty gave us one of the worst movies of all time and you wanna talk about her legacy with the character? pic.twitter.com/S5CyePYYkM

And one of them was a disgrace to the character

It’s indicative of a problem that we, “the cult”, are the only ones aware of it.
Anything Snyder does is hated unless “the consensus” likes it; then it’s from someone else.

Always feel to me like if Jenkins got the chance to put another actress instead of Gadot, she will do it. Idk why, but yeah Gadot is Snyder choice in the end.

Many DCEU fans offered a logical explanation, suggesting that Patty Jenkins took what was established and ran with it. Snyder, being the producer on both her movies, has been friendly with Jenkins. Gadot too shares amicable relations with the directors.
Zack Snyder’s Wonder Woman Differs From Patty Jenkins’ World War 1 Heroine
Debuting in Zack Snyder’s Batman Vs. Superman, Wonder Woman was seen in four DCEU movies, including her second solo installment, which sees her in the ’80s. The Patty Jenkins-directed sequel is more about “Diana’s life throughout the decades” before joining Batman and Superman’s fight “against Doomsday in the modern era.”
Zack Snyder, on the other hand, revealed in a recent Q&A session at SnyderCon 2023, how Wonder Woman’s DCEU origin differed prior to Jenkins’ takeover. He explained:
“The idea of it was that, in those days — because Diana was searching for the god of war … Ares, around the world … in her quest to find him, she ended up going to all the hotspots, where all these conflicts were in the world.”
“And then in those conflicts, looking for Ares, she would come across some amazing warrior on the battlefield that she would say, ‘hey … I’m looking for this god of war. I need a team to help me.’ And that was the basic concept behind who all those guys were.”
Snyder explained that Wonder Woman was “insanely powerful”, and “the service of this goddess was even more powerful than the service of the country,” so that’s why when one gets to see Wonder Woman in Crimea, she ends up with the cats who are with her from her journey around the world. Jenkins modernized her character, as reflected in Wonder Woman 1984 (2020).
