Both Zack Snyder and James Gunn are some of the most well-renowned names in the realm of comic books and have crafted several classics over the years. However, in Snyder’s case, most of his movies, especially his DC entries, have mostly been divisive among fans and have led to several controversies over the years.

From corrupting Batman’s morals to making Superman a more grey character, it’s obvious why some of his creative choices didn’t land well with the fans and resulted in underwhelming box office returns. However, one of the worst things that have come out of his incarnation of the DC universe has been the toxic fanbase, which has once again fired back after fans claim Gunn is a better comic book director.

Zack Snyder fans riot after James Gunn was deemed the better comic book director

Both Snyder and Gunn have their pros, with Snyder being exceptional in crafting some of the most gorgeous visual shots in the superhero genre and James Gunn being an exceptional storyteller. However, when it comes to crafting more better stories with depth, Gunn undoubtedly takes the cake in this regard, as he has crafted some of the best Superhero entries for both Marvel and DC. So following the recent Twitter poll of who is a better comic book director between James Gunn and Zack Snyder, it’s reasonable to see why the majority of votes went in favor of the Guardians 3 director.

However, the toxic portion of the Snyder fandom hasn’t backed away from voicing their opinion on the matter, as they cry foul over Gunn being chosen as the better director ahead of the BVS director.

Although Zack Snyder’s 300 was a visual treat and rightfully pushed him to the top, his later entries, especially in the DCEU, remained heavily flawed. And despite having several factors that do redeem them to some extent, in comparison to Gunn’s movies, they reasonably fell short, as Gunn has repeatedly proven himself as one of the best in the business.

Zack Snyder holds no grudge against James Gunn

Despite some toxic fans crying over James Gunn’s inclusion in the DC universe and Snyder’s vision being scrapped, Zack Snyder doesn’t seem to have any regrets and is curious about Gunn’s new DCU. While reflecting on the situation surrounding the scrapping of the previous DCEU, James Gunn came forward and expressed that he had spoken to Snyder and the BVS director has nothing but nice to say about Gunn’s vision for the DCU. Gunn explained,

“He contacted me to express his support for my choices. He’s a great guy. Again, he seems really happy with the massive world-building he’s doing now.”
