Supporting each other’s work in showbiz is not uncommon for filmmakers, and in the case of Zack Snyder and James Gunn, it’s no different. Although fans of the Snyderverse are having a hard time getting on board with James Gunn’s plans for the DC universe, Zack Snyder on the other hand has nothing but respect for Gunn and his vision.

The duo’s friendship goes long back to their days crafting the 2004 horror, Dawn of the Dead, where Gunn joined forces with the director to craft its screenplay. And 17 years later, Snyder didn’t back away from helping with the action sequences of the most critically acclaimed DCEU entry.

Zack Snyder’s involvement in Peacemaker‘s action sequences

Like The Suicide Squad, James Gunn didn’t fail to deliver with its spin-off Peacemaker, which witnessed John Cena delivering his best acting performance to date. Among the plethora of things the series gets right, the action sequences in the show also stand out, thanks to Wayne Dalglish’s incredible choreography. It appears that it was none other than Zack Snyder who recommended the stunt coordinator to Gunn, helping his friend’s vision come to fruition. Gunn stated,

“My friend Wayne Daglish & I had such a great time doing the fight choreography & stunts for PM that I hired him on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. Wayne came recommended to me from Zack Snyder (thanks!)”

Dalglish’s influence can be also seen in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, as apart from being one of the best MCU entries since Infinity War, the film also comprises some of the best action sequences in the entire trilogy.

Zack Snyder supports James Gunn’s vision for the DC universe

Although James Gunn‘s upcoming Superman: Legacy, the first major DCU release, is set to be the polar opposite of Zack Snyder’s interpretation of Superman, Snyder holds no grudges against the new regime. With the Rebel Moon director currently busy crafting his Netflix project, Gunn claimed Snyder reached out to him to showcase support for his vision. Gunn stated,

“He contacted me to express his support about my choices. He’s a great guy. Again, he seems really happy with the massive world-building he’s doing now.”
