'Zack Snyder is the blueprint': DC Fans Claim The Batman Stole Snyder's Vision for Ben Affleck's Dark Knight, Point Out Uncanny Similarities Between SnyderVerse and ReevesVerse

It feels as if it was only yesterday that Warner Bros. was forced to release the Snyder Cut after Zack Snyder’s exit from DC. With online campaigning that united the people, the entertainment giant had no way out other than to release the Snyder version of Justice League.

Following Snyder’s controversial walkout, fans now point out the similarities between Zack Snyder’s and Matt Reeves’s direction on Batman. People claim that DC allegedly stole Snyder’s vision and gave it to director Matt Reeves and actor Robert Pattinson for The Batman.

Did DC Steal Zack Snyder’s Vision For The Dark Knight?

In a turn of events, as the #SellSnyderVerseToNetflix trend gains momentum, people now allege that DC stole director Zack Snyder’s plans for their own movies. After the benchmark that the 300 director had set for the Justice League to follow, fans accused Warner Bros. Discovery and the DC Studios of blatantly copying Snyder’s vision and selling it as their own.

What seemed to be a simple tweet went too far as a side-by-side comparison of Snyder’s Batman from Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice looked pretty much alike to Matt Reeves’ The Batman. The fans set the notion that DC openly stole the Man of Steel director’s idea and made it into their own ReevesVerse instead of SnyderVerse.

With a tweet that simply stated that “Zack Snyder is the blueprint”, the people quickly realized the uncanny similarities between the two projects while maintaining the dark and gritty tone of the character.

The debate got so aggressive that talks of firing James Gunn and his alleged incompetency were put to question.

As for the other tweets…it was a blood fest. With equal supporters of Zack Snyder and an equal number of haters, the DC fandom has been torn apart with the director’s departure back in 2017. Following Matt Reeves’ take on the character of Bruce Wayne, fans quite liked the movie after which a sequel was confirmed to be released.

Yes, the title is pretty self-explanatory and obvious, but what the title does not reveal is that Andy Serkis is also back for the sequel. With the role of the loyal butler of Bruce Wayne, Andy Serkis portrayed the character of Alfred Pennyworth in The Batman (2022). According to director Matt Reeves, he has nothing but the utmost respect for the actor.

“He is a genius. I remember when I signed on to The Batman, one of the first decisions I made, I said, ‘Andy, I want you to play Alfred, and I want to make it really emotional. Because I want people to see your face – not some avatar – and to understand truly what an incredible actor you are.’”

As for the acclaimed director Zack Snyder, he is currently busy with his magnum opus Rebel Moon in collaboration with Netflix. Following his exit, the director wanted to make something that had been on his mind for decades and Rebel Moon became his obsession.

The Batman Part II is slated for a release date of 3rd October 2025 while Zack Snyder’s Rebel Moon has a release date of 22nd December 2023.
