In an interview with The Hollywood Handle, Zack Snyder answered a few questions on what it feels like to be reteaming with Warner Bros. for the show. He added:

We’ve been talking about doing these 300 shows and the great news is that because Warner Brothers was our studio that we did the movie with, they’re the first people that we would approach in regard to making the series and they were just receptive and into it.

The latest update came as a surprise to many and also raised a lot of eyebrows. The major contention among the fans was that the director is currently involved in a lot of projects, for instance, Rebel Moon’s animated spin-off show and more. Further, with so much already on his plate, there’s a concern that his divided attention might lead the 300 show to face the same challenges as his Rebel Moon movies.

As reported by Comic Book, the upcoming show is still in the development stage. Further, it’s based on the original movie featuring Gerard Butler and Frank Miller’s graphic novel of the same name. The show will act as a prequel and will focus on the Spartans led by Leonidas before their famous battle with Xerxes.

The husband-wife duo Zack Snyder and Deborah Snyder are known to present exceptional director cuts, as evidenced by Snyder’s Justice League. Adding to this, their most recent endeavor involves their Netflix sci-fi epic, Rebel Moon, split in two parts: Rebel Moon Part 1: A Child of Fire and Rebel Moon Part Two: The Scargiver.

The movies were originally released with PG-13 ratings in December and April 2023 but are now R-rated. These new versions also have extended run times and fresh titles, further allowing greater character development and depth. In a Zoom call interview with Forbes, the husband-wife duo detailed how the director’s cut involved far more than just insisting on additional scenes in the original movies. Zack Snyder added:

I feel like the thing that’s incredible about this process—that was surprising—was that we made four movies. (Further) People may think that like, ‘Oh, well, you just knocked the director’s cuts out. They’re just the same movie and you just added a couple of shots’ but they are literally four different movies. So, we really had to approach [the films] that way. It just took a lot of effort—more effort than we thought.

The central character in both the original as well as the director’s cut of Rebel Moon is Kora, a character played by Sofia Boutella. Further, her journey begins at a very young age when she gets forcibly separated from her home and raised as a soldier under the oppressive regime of Regent Balisarius (Fra Free).
