As one of the biggest games in the world and continuously growing, Fortnite has taken the gaming world by storm over the years with constant updates, a seasonal story, a map that is constantly evolving and changing to keep up with the times, and now it could potentially be looked at as a major motion picture with one of the best film makers in the business.
In the past, Zack Snyder has shown his love and support for Fortnite, as he even went into depth regarding his love for the game at Gamescom 2023. Now it looks like this major fan is both looking for and hoping for an opportunity to work on a Fortnite movie sometime in the near future.
Why Does Zack Snyder Want to Create a Fortnite Movie?
During an interview with Etalk, Zack Snyder was asked a question about whether he would be up for creating a Fortnite movie, sometime in the future. When answering this question, Zack Snyder said that he would be entirely up for the opportunity.
Over the years, Zack Snyder has worked on numerous projects that have received critical acclaim. Which means that if Epic Games ever looked towards creating a Fortnite film, there is already an amazing director fighting for the opportunity.
As stated above, Zack Snyder has been a fan of Fortnite for a long time and even got stuck in a spiral when he became obsessed with the game. At first, he began playing the game because he wanted to play it with his son, but once his son left the game behind, Zack began to get deeper into the game world and really sink into the game’s deep story and experiences.
Since Zack has such a love for the franchise and clearly vibes with the story-telling aspects that Epic Games has been working through over the years, it makes total sense for him to want to create a Fortnite film, even if it was just a passion project.
At the moment, Epic Games has no plans to create a Fortnite film, but that can all change in a heartbeat, as Fortnite began as just a battle royale game and has now expanded to include so many different game modes, features, and stories that many gamers can barely keep up with anymore.
How Would a Fortnite Film Work?
When gamers think about Fortnite, it is very understandable that many people forget that over the years it has actually had numerous stories within its multiple seasons. Any of these stories could easily be fleshed out within a movie if chosen, but it would more than likely be more suitable to create a whole new story with familiar characters from the Fortnite franchise.
If Epic Games did move forward with a film, it would most likely need to be an animated movie to keep with the game’s main demographic, but it could also draw in a lot of star power, as there have already been famous actors like Dwayne ‘The Rock‘ Johnson who have made appearances within the game as characters that have a pivotal role in select stories.
One difficult aspect would be including a reference to the many skins that are included within the game itself, as Epic’s title has grown so large that it no longer relies on its own skins but also skins from other franchises like God of War, Star Wars, Spider-Man, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and even Marvel.
This would become a major challenge for the likes of Zack Snyder when creating a movie, but with Zack Snyder’s skills in filmmaking, it could potentially be a massive hit. If Epic Games did move ahead with creating a Fortnite movie and assign Zack Snyder the task of directing it, this could lead to another Ready Player One situation focusing more on the player base than the actual game itself.
There are many ups and downs to the potential of a movie, but for those who are fans of the franchise and Zack Snyder movies, this could be a collaboration of a lifetime and could potentially create a whole new movie universe.
