Marvel studios announced one of the most awaited films of the MCU, Thunderbolts, at the D23 Expo. The studio released the cast of the film which includes seven members of the team. Many of these were the same as fans expected them to be, but not all of the characters were the same as fans expected them to be. However, Marvel has not introduced the whole cast of the film, but rather just the members of the official Thunderbolts team.

This led fans to believe they might see the characters they were expecting in the film. Thunderbolts includes seven members, Yelena Belovo, Bucky Barnes, Red Guardian, Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, Ghost, Taskmaster, and the US Agent.

Thunderbolts Cast Reveal at D23 Expo

After the first look and cast of Thunderbolts were revealed, fans were happy but somehow disappointed for not seeing some expected faces. After his appearance as Emil Blonsky/Abomination in She-Hulk, fans expected Abomination to see in the film.

But after the cast was revealed those who expected to see him in the film cast, were left disappointed. Abomination is not the only character fans expected to see in the film. The other two most anticipated characters were Baron Zemo and Thunderbolt Ross.

Zemo and Ross were the characters who formed Thunderbolts at different points in time. However, with none of them being introduced in the cast left fans with the question of who will bring this team together.

Twitter Post Confirming Zemo in Thunderbolts

Now a Twitter post by Marvel Updates has shared that Zemo will be a part of the film and that the studio has confirmed it. The post says, “Marvel Studios has confirmed that Zemo will be part of Thunderbolts by inserting his name in the link dedicated to the presentation of the team. “

The post comes out two days after the Expo. Though Marvel itself has not made any official announcement about it, fans seem happy with the news.

It is assumed that Marvel Studios did not include him in the cast at D23 Expo as they wanted to create hype. And it might have worked, as fans started asking about the character as soon as the cast of the film was revealed. After appearing in Captain America: Civil War for the first time, Baron Zemo was seen alongside Sam Wilson and Bucky Barnes in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier

While some are excited to see Zemo appearing in the film, it may or may not be accurate. Ever since Marvel revealed phase 5 and phase 6 of the MCU and Thunderbolts as a part of phase 5, assumptions about who will lead the team of supervillains have come out. One name that came up constantly was Yelena Belovo. It got hyped even more after the first look of the cast.

Who Will Recruit Thunderbolts?

So far, we have seen some of the team members together but not as a team. The US Agent, Winter Soldier, and Valentina Allegra de Fontaine were seen in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. After this Valentina Allegra de Fontaine was also seen in the post-credit scenes of Black Widow, hinting that Marvel has started setting up the plot for the members to get together. But who will recruit them is still a question left unanswered.

After getting confirmation about Zemo appearing in Thunderbolts with a Twitter post, fans are asking if they did the same with Abomination as well. However, it does not seem like Marvel would have hidden these characters from the posters. Production for Thunderbolts will start in 2023.

Thunderbolts will release on 26 July 2022.
