Following her brief appearance in the 2021 film Dune, Zendaya returned with a more elaborate role of Chani in the recently released sequel of the film Dune: Part Two. While she’s no stranger to big-budget blockbusters like Marvel’s Spider-Man franchise, where she stars alongside her partner Tom Holland, Zendaya subtly hinted at her preference for her experience in Dune: Part Two alongside co-stars such as Timothée Chalamet.
Zendaya Reflected on Reprising Her Role in Dune: Part Two
During an interview with Pinkvilla, Zendaya opened up about reprising her role as Chani in Dune: Part Two. The actress, who had a brief appearance in the first film, expressed her excitement at the prospect of delving deeper into the character of Chani.
“I only had a few days of filming on Dune,” she shared before adding, “So, I was excited to come back and have a chance to explore so much more of Chani.” The Spider-Man: Homecoming star further shared how working on the film alongside a talented cast exceeded her expectations. She said,
“Filming Dune: Part Two absolutely surpassed any kind of dream I could’ve ever had. Being on those sets, with those incredibly talented people in every department… I was in awe.”
The sequel to Denis Villeneuve’s Dune features Zendaya’s return as the Fremen warrior Chani, with whom Paul Atreides has developed a deep connection. Starring alongside an ensemble cast, the film places her character at the forefront of the story as she goes through a significant personal journey.
Tom Holland’s Response to Rumor About His Relationship With Zendaya
Amid swirling rumors of a split, actor Tom Holland has addressed speculation surrounding his relationship with Zendaya. The speculations started after the actress unfollowed everyone on Instagram, including her boyfriend and Spider-Man co-star, Tom Holland.
Fueling further speculation, both actors were spotted out and about separately, prompting whispers of a possible breakup. Holland, however, addressed these rumors recently as he firmly denied any truth to the breakup speculation. As per TMZ, when asked about their alleged split, the 27-year-old actor said, “Absolutely not,” putting the rumors to rest with a simple and direct response.
Earlier rumors even hinted at engagement between the pair, but Zendaya had previously addressed those speculations. “I posted [the photo] for my hat, not for the ring on my right finger you guys! Seriously, you think that’s how I would drop the news?” she said in a now-deleted video.
While the actress has not directly addressed the reason behind unfollowing everyone on Instagram, it is speculated that she might be attempting to undergo a social media detox ahead of the release of her upcoming films, including Dune: Part Two and Challengers. Zendaya and Holland initially sparked dating rumors in 2017 while starring in Marvel’s Spider-Man films and later confirmed their relationship.
Dune: Part Two is playing in theatres.
