Stellar Blade divided the gaming community with the rather controversial design of its main protagonist, Eve. Catering to male audiences it has spawned backlash from the community. HoYoverse, known for its anime aesthetics seems to have shifted its focus in Zenless Zone Zero as the game has introduced male characters that are equally as visually appealing, if not more so.

In particular, due to specific character design elements, Von Lycaon has sparked a discussion online. While this isn’t anything groundbreaking or never seen before it is a nice touch from HoYoverse as it certainly got positive comments from the fanbase.

Von Lycaon Takes from Stellar Blade’s Eve

Eve is a force to be reckoned with.

In many games, female characters are those with more freedom in design, incorporating attributes, such as exaggerated body proportions, large eyes, and revealing outfits. This is something not seen in their male counterparts as they come flat and without much effort for allure.

Such detailed animations have been largely absent in male character designs. Nevertheless, Von Lycaon in HoYoverse’s latest action RPG is a shift in this trend as it channels its inner Eve.

He is an S-Rank Ice Agent in the game and belongs to the Victoria Housekeeping Co. faction alongside other characters such as Ellen Joe and Corin Wickes.

This Agent character comes with jiggle physics for his buttocks. This is a rather bold move from HoYoverse as they are trying to get the same level of attention for their male characters.

It looks like their strategy is paying off. Zenless Zone Zero is still a young game but fans already have their opinions on characters. He has stirred some comments as his sophisticated looks are the source of the allure behind the debate.

Fans are Happy with Lycaon Design

Shift Up’s magnum opus Stellar Blade, Zenless Zone Zero, and now The First Descendant can all be put in one basket with their take on character design, and both have benefited from this approach. All the positive response from the community only shows that HoYoverse was right to give some physics to their male characters.

One fan in particular took to Reddit to express his satisfaction with the design saying simply my boy has cake after all.

More fans of the game ringed in support of the statement as one fan said that they didn’t spend years complaining about Genshin Impact male characters for nothing as HoYoverse takes a bold step into character design.

HoYoverse has always been a step ahead of other developers in character design, as evident in their other titles.

Hoyoverse took something from their other games and added a touch of Shift Up’s main protagonist, but inserted it into one of the male characters.

While this bold approach has certainly generated some buzz online, what are your thoughts on the design of this Ice Agent? Is this something that can improve the game? Let us know in the comments below.
