The Escapist has been making headlines for the past couple of weeks after a wild scene unfolded at the outlet. The parent company, Gamurs Group, fired Nick Calandra, the outlet’s editor-in-chief, for “not achieving goals.” This resulted in several other employees leaving the outlet, including Ben “Yahtzee” Croshaw, the creator of the Zero Punctuation video review series on YouTube.

Nick Calandra, along with Ben Croshaw and other employees, announced a new gaming outlet called Second Wind, which soon got a huge response from the community. The Escapist has now posted two new Zero Punctuation videos as it looks to beat Calandra and Croshaw’s outlet, Second Wind.

The Escapist covers all sorts of gaming-related things, but one of the main reasons for its popularity is the Zero Punctuation video review series on YouTube. The creator of the series, Yahtzee Croshaw, also left with Nick Calandra and said that he no longer has any association with Zero Punctuation, which shocked the community as he was the face and voice of the series.

However, the community was also relieved to know that he would soon bring something new to his voice at Second Wind. The Escapist has now uploaded two back-to-back Zero Punctuation videos on YouTube for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and Sonic Superstars in an attempt to take on Second Wind. These are the first videos that have gone live after the departure of Croshaw from the outlet.

The two videos have been uploaded just an hour apart from each other, which is not the usual schedule as the videos in the review series go live weekly. Both videos have garnered good views, with Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 currently at 94k views and Sonic Superstars at 68k views. However, just the mere presence of new videos can’t fill the void left by the absence of Yahtzee Croshaw.

The comments for the videos have also been turned off on YouTube, and it is still not known who is the voice and writer for the behind-the-review videos. This is largely because of the backlash that The Escapist faced after it fired Nick Calandra and Yahtzee Croshaw resigned, and the videos could have attracted negative comments.

Zero Punctuation was launched in 2007, and it soon earned popularity because of its hot and politically incorrect scripts on video games. The videos had some hilarious editing and a sense of humor, perfect for taking swipes on video games that get appreciation from other gaming sites. The video series has more than four million views and has greatly contributed to the success of The Escapist.

Yahtzee Croshaw was greatly appreciated by gamers for his approach and how he kept even the controversial takes sarcastic which impressed the community the most. After he resigned from The Escapist, fans appreciated him and his contribution to the video series, adding that the video series was the sole flag bearer for the outlet for over a decade.

Yahtzee Croshaw has now embarked on a new journey with Second Wind and has launched his new video review show called Fully Ramblomatic. The first video for the series has also gone live on November 15, and it’s none other than the critically acclaimed Alan Wake 2. The response from the community has been fantastic for the video series and Yahtzee Croshaw, and it has also done very well compared to the last few Zero Punctuation videos.

The new outlet has been doing great so far, and the rush from The Escapist to upload the new videos clearly shows that it is facing some tough competition from the newbies.
