Disney has a fascinating line-up coming through for fans in the near future. The company celebrated a major milestone in 2023 as it turned 100. While the past year was not as good as the company might have anticipated, it is definitely looking to change that with the line-up for the upcoming releases.

Disney has not only made some of the beloved classics in the past 10 decades but also set a groundbreaking mark for animated cinema. The company wishes to alter its streak of lackluster performance as it has revealed the release dates for some of the most anticipated sequels to movies like Frozen, Zootopia, and Toy Story.

Disney Has Revealed the Release Date for Zootopia 2

In early 2023, it was announced that the company would release sequels to Zootopia, Frozen, and Pixar’s Toy Story. During last year’s Q1 earning calls (via Deadline), CEO Bob Iger said:

“Today I’m so pleased to announce that we have sequels in the works from our animation studios to some of our most popular franchises, Toy Story, Frozen, and Zootopia. We’ll have more to share about these productions soon, but this is a great example of how we’re leaning into our unrivaled brands and franchises.”

During Disney’s Q1 2024 earnings call recently (via Deadline), Iger revealed that Zootopia 2 will be hitting the cinemas during the Thanksgiving break in 2025, November 26, 2025, to be exact. The company has that holiday five-day stretch reserved for an animated movie so Zooptopia 2‘s release will put it to good use.

The first Zootopia was released in 2016. Besides earning more than $1 billion worldwide, the movie won the Academy Award for Best Animated Film.

Frozen 3 and Toy Story 5 Will Also Be Released Soon

Not so long ago, the House of Mouse released its first original fairy tale Wish. Sadly, the film did not do too well as it did not receive good reviews and grossed $244.1 million worldwide. Part of the blame for its mediocre performance has been put on the fact that the company tried to use nostalgia as bait in the movie.

Additionally, the not-so-impressive performance of the live-action The Little Mermaid, Disney+’s Peter Pan and Wendy, and Marvel Studios’ The Marvels has put the company in a difficult position as it spells trouble for those who wish to take the House of Mouse to new heights.

That being said, Bob Iger has announced that Frozen 3 and Toy Story 5 will be released in 2026 (via Digital Spy). Iger said:

“We’re already looking forward to 2026 and beyond with Frozen 3, the first Toy Story movie since 2019.”

Furthermore, a sequel to 2016’s Moana is going to be released as a feature in November 2024. The reason for the company to bring Moana 2 is that the first movie recently crossed the 1 billion hours mark of streaming on Disney+ and was the most streamed movie of 2023 on any platform in the U.S.
