Call of Duty is seemingly about to come back with a bang. With Microsoft’s annual Xbox Summer Showcase set for June this year, fans eagerly await the event, hoping to see what to expect from the gaming giants in the coming 12 months.
However, some fans have noticed a new addition to Xbox’s game subscription service, Game Pass, that may hint at a huge announcement from Activision Blizzard regarding their hugely successful series, Call of Duty.
Activision Blizzard May Have Just Accidentally Leaked an Announcement
In a post made on the Reddit page r/XboxGamePass one user posted a screenshot of the Game Pass app that appears to show Call of Duty: Black Ops III on the list of games available for the internet game streaming service of Game Pass called cloud streaming.
The user in the post asks if others have seen the game and that when they select the title, the Game Pass app freezes and refreshes, ending the post with the question, “Do we think this was an error on there end and a sign that it’s gonna be coming soon?“.

This is big news for fans as Black Ops III is one of the most popular titles in the Call of Duty franchise and may prove to be a huge success for Activision if they do end up allowing the game onto the service, and fans seem hopeful, with one user commenting, “Its def coming, just a matter of when” and another replying to that comment, also suspecting it will be a major announcement at the Xbox Summer Showcase.
The comments show just how excited fans are to see one of their favorite titles available to them at the touch of a button on their next-gen console.
What These Could Rumors Mean for Fans of Call of Duty
These rumors could mean fantastic things for fans of the franchise, especially those who grew up with this title, Call of Duty: Black Ops III has proven itself to be a fan favorite title, and these rumors could mean that anyone with a subscription to Game Pass will once again be able to experience the game.
Unfortunately, until June, this will have to remain a rumor as there has been no confirmation from Xbox or Activision about whether we can look forward to seeing this title appear on our consoles, so it is a wait-and-see case until the summer showcase event, but that doesn’t stop many fans from showing their excitement towards the possible inclusion of the title.
It would make sense for Activision as a company to rerelease Call of Duty: Black Ops III, as last year the company reactivated the servers on a number of older titles in the franchise. This would allow these servers to be accessible by thousands of more players and boost the game again.
