Of all the superheroes in the X-Men guild, Gambit is inevitably one of the most popular and beloved ones. Yet, he is also the one who hasn’t been able to earn himself more than one appearance in a live-action project of the mutants. Even when Channing Tatum was reportedly cast to star as Gambit in his very own solo movie, the film was later revealed to be canceled and swept under the rug.
This is why fans are desperate to see him on the big screen once again. Not only in his animated form, like in the recently released series X-Men ’97, but also in a live-action project with Tatum embodying him. While this dream seemed far-fetched as of late, it seems it just might come true through Deadpool 3, as can be derived from Tatum’s recent message for Hugh Jackman.
Warning: Contains X-Men ’97 Spoilers Ahead!
Channing Tatum’s Comment Sparks Gambit’s Deadpool 3 Debut Rumors
Amid the massive hype surrounding the upcoming presumed masterpiece in the Deadpool saga, Jackman took to his Instagram handle (@thehughjackman) to share a clip of him training and getting jacked up to reprise his iconic mutant superhero role.
But while that Instagram post turned a lot of heads and earned a lot of wide-eyed commendations, what further caught fans’ eyes was none other than Channing Tatum‘s comment on the post. Taking to his own IG handle (@channingtatum), he commented:
“Letttsss gooo daddy!!!!”
Okay, we know what you’re thinking. This comment does not, in any way, indicate that Tatum would finally be embodying the role of Remy Lebeau, but only seems like he is supporting Hugh Jackman and hyping him up for the soon-to-be-released movie. And yes, we agree with you, too.
However, at the same time, there is a lot more to this story.
For those who may be unaware of it, The Vow actor has been under massive speculation about his finally suiting up as Remy Lebeau in the third installment of the Deadpool saga since last year.
This started when insider @mytimetoshineh1 took to their Instagram handle in July 2023 to share the scoop that the Magic Mike’s Last Dance star has already filmed a cameo as Lebeau for Jackman’s upcoming Marvel movie.
What’s more is that this was further followed by Joel Adrian, a renowned stunt performer, getting credited in September 2023 as Tatum’s stunt double on IMDb‘s cast and crew page (even though it was later removed).
Adding to all of these was (SPOILER ALERT) Remy Lebeau and Logan recently teaming up in the most iconic way in the X-Men ’97 animated series, where the former charged up the latter’s claws while riding on top of him.
Thus, because of all of these reports, the recent turn of events, and Tatum’s comment on Jackman’s post, rumors about the 43-year-old actor suiting up as Gambit have gone as strong as ever, and fans can’t contain their excitement about it all.
Fans React to this Recent Turn of Events
Since fans have been desperate to see The Lost City actor finally appear as the fan-favorite character on the big screen, they’re taking up his recent comment as a ray of hope of finally seeing their dreams fulfilled through Ryan Reynolds‘ upcoming movie, even if it’s just for a cameo.
Taking to X, here’s how they’re reacting to this news:

For what it’s worth, if all of this speculation turns out to be true and Tatum does end up appearing alongside Jackman in live-action as well, then perhaps nothing could stop the third installment of Deadpool from becoming an unimaginable success for Marvel.
Deadpool & Wolverine is set to hit the theatres by the 26th of July, 2024.
