Rhodes has often been compared to Homelander in memes and online due to his blonde hair and American flag-based suit. The wrestler has also spoken about his suit’s resemblance to the face of Vaught. However, fans have also speculated this Homelander reference to be a hint at the superstar’s turn to becoming a heel in WWE.

Cody Rhodes has long been compared to The Boys’ Homelander by the Internet, despite being one of the most prominent babyfaces of the WWE. Be it his neatly set blonde hair or his American flag-inspired suit for WrestleMania XL, the Undisputed WWE Champion has been a noteworthy doppelganger of the deranged superhero.

However, the wrestler took the comparison to a new level when he featured in an ad for the latest season of The Boys, where he donned the Homelander suit. The ad sees Rhodes being built up to be a worthy adversary of the superhero and ends with the wrestler addressing him directly, asking, “So, Homelander. What do you want to talk about?”.

Rhodes has previously addressed the comparisons to Homelander in an interview with Comic Book and mentioned that though it was unintentional, he welcomed them. He said,

I can tell you Sandra Gray, who’s been making my gear since Dashing Cody Rhodes, has no idea about Homelander. And now, that jacket is forever synonymous with it, but it is a really unique parallel. I know people have a lot of fun with fan art where it’s concerned. With what’s happening with me and the reactions, I don’t want to ruin it for anybody.

Cody Rhodes also mentioned in another interview that despite the comparisons, the suit was not inspired by The Boys and that he never asked Sandra Grey to deviate (via My Mom’s Basement).

Cody Rhodes’ latest ad as Homelander has impressed many fans, who appreciated the wrestler for being a sport and getting in on the joke. However, some fans also believed that the ad was a hint for Cody Rhodes to turn heel and face off again against Roman Reigns, who would return as a babyface.

Reigns has not been seen since his defeat against Rhodes in WrestleMania XL. However, the Tribal Chief is looking to make a comeback and this might just be a hint to his return.
