The Fantastic Four Star Joseph Quinn Might Have Just Confirmed John Malkovich’s Role
Actor Joseph Quinn is best known for playing the role of Eddie Munson in the fourth season of Stranger Things. In February 2024, Quinn was announced as a part of the cast for the upcoming movie The Fantastic Four, directed by Matt Shakman.
In the film, Quinn will be seen in the role of Johnny Storm / Human Torch, the hot-headed member of the titular team with pyrokinetic powers. Quinn recently spoke about the upcoming role in an interview with the GQ.
During the interview, Quinn revealed he was most excited to work with actor John Malkovich in The Fantastic Four. He said:
He’s one of my all-timers.
However, when Quinn was asked if Malkovich’s role in the movie was villainous, the actor remained silent to avoid any potential spoilers. As a result, Quinn might have confirmed what fans had been suspecting since Malkovich was announced as a part of the cast in May 2024.
Fans have largely presumed that the actor might be playing Doctor Doom or Mole Man in the movie, but Quinn’s recent comments all but confirm that Malkovich will be playing an antagonist. However, Quinn’s excitement to share the screen with Malkovich could also mean that the latter is playing Franklin Storm, the father of Sue and Johnny Storm.
Joseph Quinn Talks His Relationship With The Fantastic Four Cast
In the same interview, Quinn also spoke about his connection with the rest of his co-stars from the upcoming film. The Stranger Things actor revealed that he had very briefly met Ebon Moss-Bachrach, who is set to play Ben Grimm / The Thing.
Quinn added that he and his to-be on-screen sister Vanessa Kirby have known each other through mutual friends. However, the actor Quinn is most familiar with is Pedro Pascal, who will play the role of Reed Richards / Mr. Fantastic. Quinn and Pascal worked together on Ridley Scott’s upcoming historical drama Gladiator II.
Given Pascal’s popularity compared to his other co-stars and status as the lead star, the success or failure of The Fantastic Four will likely depend upon the actor. Pascal’s stardom has soared thanks to critically acclaimed performances in The Mandalorian and The Last of Us.
