Helldivers 2 is probably the most popular title in recent times. With huge peak concurrent players and exciting co-op missions, this game mesmerized the gaming world. But as every story has its end, the title is also on the horizon of its life cycle, with player count reducing day by day.

Amidst these tough situations, to make the situation tougher for Helldivers 2, comes Starship Troopers: Exterminations. With this title knocking on the door, a huge chunk of players are going to change their ships for sure.

During the recently concluded Summer Game Fest, Offworld Industries announced the release date of Starship Troopers: Extermination, which is October 11. This game also has the same settings and backgrounds as Helldivers 2. Extermination is a sci-fi shooter too, with a huge 16-player cooperative campaign.

Seeing the trailer for the game, many fans have expressed their wish to ditch the popular co-op title and put their flags on this upcoming title. The single-player mode of the game will showcase 25 distinct missions and an array of PvE scenarios across multiple environments.

However, there is a second chapter as well, already confirmed after the launch. The game is based on the journey of an elite special operations group within the Mobile Infantry. Players who will be selected for this group will then take orders from the Legend, Johnny Rico.

Yes, Johnny Rico and these iconic characters will be played by none other than Casper Van Dien, who played the same character in the cult classic 1997 Starship Troopers movie. This elite spec-ops group, under the guidance of Rico, will have to battle against the hordes of enemy arachnids.

How Will Extermination Be Different From Helldivers 2?

Starship Troopers: Extermination has some unique features, which other title doesn't have.

Everybody knows that the game took huge inspiration from Paul Verhoeven’s film, originally based on the Robert Heinlein novel. So, it’s quite natural that this game will have uncanny similarities with the upcoming title. Then, what will set Extermination apart from its counterpart?

There is a unique feature in Extermination where corpses and carcasses of bugs will not disappear after they die in the Planet X11 update (version 0.8.0) in Carnage. After you kill these arachnids, their bodies will be piled up, and you can use them as covers as well against other arachnid forces.

Another reason the game might surpass its rival is its huge scale. The upcoming Offworld Industries title will support up to 16 players, which is a treat for the fans. On the other hand, Helldivers 2 only supports up to four players.

Are you also one of those who will be turning their heads towards Extermination? Do you think this could be the next big co-op title? Let us know in the comment section.
