Bears in Space is unlike any other game released in 2024. The brainchild of 3 friends, the game was conceived 7 years ago. As the name suggests, the friends came up with the idea of a bear going into Space to fight an arm of robotlike aliens in this futuristic shooter with ample retro elements.

The official account of the game on Reddit posted an update showcasing the game and briefly describing their journey as they prayed for support from the gaming community for their brand-new venture.

The game has an extended demo version that is available to play for free on Steam. Players can also wishlist the game if they wish to buy it. The video that accompanies the game shows the protagonist ripping through robots in the form of a bear and with guns that shoot lasers.

Bears in Space Promises Fun and Adventure

2024 has been an eventful year for gaming. While big-money titles like Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League failed to live up to the mark, games like Helldivers 2 successfully wooed the audience. So Bear in Space might just surprise everybody despite its measly marketing budget.

The game follows the story of Spacetronaut Maxwell Atoms who becomes an extraterrestrial cast-away in this bullet-hell boomer shooter FPS. Maxwell has his DNA combined with the she-bear, Beartana. In this humorous adventure-packed entry, the player will have to eliminate hordes of oil-thirsty robots using the weapons and powers at the disposal of the protagonist.

The story of the game is a journey against time by the protagonist to return to Earth and save his crew in the process if possible. By consuming elusive honey pots, players can turn into bears and use the forgotten art of Bear Fu and the fabled Kuma No Ken.

There are over 25 available weapons all of which can be evolved and upgraded. Each weapon gains XP when the player performs a kill with it. So, the more enemies you kill, the stronger your weapon gets.

Apart from the main quest, there are plenty of side quests and sub-storylines that are waiting to be explored by players. One can investigate crime scenes, battle a Rock God, play a game of Basketcube, and even bust ghosts in these side missions.

The game is portrayed as a perfect entry point for kids and adults new to the FPS genre. Although there are difficulty sliders to increase competitiveness if it becomes too easy, the game will feature ample scope for newcomers to learn the ropes.

I travel. I game. I write. In no strict order.

The single biggest lie told all around is, "It isn't that simple." It is simple, everything is. And that is what I emulate in my writing. No unnecessary jargons and no flamboyant flourish. Just what's needed to get your imagination going. After all mind has no limit, unlike the written word.
