The world remembered Williams as an outstanding performer, doing stand-up comedy, films, and TV shows. However, the Popeye actor would consider himself a gamer at heart as he was addicted to gamingand he was a huge COD and Counter-Strike fan. The actor would spend hours in front of the screen, as he not only found gaming to be relaxing but also quite deflating as he got humbled by an 11-year-old.

The Day Robin Williams Got Humbled By An 11-Year-Old in Call of Duty

Known for his passion for acting and portraying offbeat characters in smash-hit blockbuster films, Robin Williams was also a huge fan and a devoted advocate of video games. The actor would often spend long hours in front of the screen, playing The Legend of Zelda.

However, when the actor did not spend his time playing Zelda, he would try different and who knew he was a huge fan of first-person shooter games, to be precise, Call of Duty.

Despite being a massive fan of the video game franchise, he would always avoid playing it as he had a very “humbling” experience. During a session of Ask Me Anything on Reddit, Williams opened up about his love for Call of Duty as he was “still waiting for the next Call of Duty.”

“I’m still waiting for the next Call of Duty. It’s been very unusual for me because I’ve done trips overseas to Iraq and Afghanistan, and I would see guys who had just come back from patrol playing Call of Duty, and I would say “you’re living this stuff! And yet you’re still playing this game…””

However, the actor would always avoid online sessions as he got destroyed in a match, recalling the experience as “Getting my a** kicked by an 11 year old is very humbling!” 

As Dexerto shared this information on X, fans of the late actor quickly gathered around, sharing their opinion on how kids these days are a force to be reckoned with.

Sadly, the actor died by s*icide on August 11, 2014, and his death sent shockwaves around the world. However, the video game community wanted to honor the actor for his achievements and decided to memorialize him in World of Warcraft.

World of Warcraft Fans’ Homage To Robin Williams

The Patch Adams actor used to play a plethora of video games and World of Warcraft was also a part of his favorites. The massive online multiplayer game is played by millions. Upon hearing the demise of the actor, the players came together filing a petition to the game’s creators, Blizzard Entertainment, to eternalize Robin Williams in-game.

The petition grew stronger to the where it was confirmed by Chadd Nervig, the technical game designer responding to the fans on X, “Yes. We’re taking care of it.” Followed by the official X account, then Twitter, tweeting,

This was a great gesture by the World of Warcraft community as they decided to commemorate one of the greatest actors to step foot in front of the cameras, who was also a gamer at heart.
