But, before all these victorious box office hits, he knew what it’s like to star in a major box office bomb. The actor notably appeared in 2016’s Misconduct alongside two veteran stars in Hollywood: Al Pacino and Anthony Hopkins.

Glen Powell’s Major Box Office Flop Only Made A Hundred Dollars On Its Opening Weekend

When a movie stars two of the greatest actors in history, it’s supposed to make money, but that’s not the case with Shintaro Shimosawa’s Misconduct. The film cost $11 million to make, and on its opening weekend, it only earned $141, as per Variety.

For a span of three days, the movie instantly failed to attract an audience despite it featuring Al Pacino and Anthony Hopkins. To be fair, the movie only had a limited release and was only shown in five locations in Britain, specifically theaters belonging to the Reel Cinemas chain.

On average, there were only three to four viewers who watched the film per movie house over the weekend. Apart from the two acclaimed stars, it also featured Josh Duhamel, Julia Stiles, and Glen Powell.

On Rotten Tomatoes, it has an embarrassing score of 7%. As per Box Office Mojo, it only grossed over $2 million in ticket sales.

Misconduct follows an ambitious lawyer who takes on a case against a corrupt pharmaceutical executive. This seemed like the least interesting story for the UK viewers as evident in the total gross.

To think that this is Shimosawa’s directorial debut almost puts a stain on his record; however, it’s not the end of the world. If Powell managed to rise above the embarrassment of this film, the director could also stand a chance.

Glen Powell may have chosen the wrong projects in the past, but that only helped him get to where he is now. Working alongside two veteran actors gained him enough knowledge about the field of acting and the industry. He shared via Collider:

I’ve been in this business a really long time. I’ve been doing this for 20 years… It’s taken me a long time to just even get here, which for most people, feels like a starting line. I hope it’s the start of something really great. The thing about it is that I’ve gotten a chance to learn from a lot of greats, along the way.

Indeed, Misconduct was only a stepping stone for the actor. There was no way it could make money given its limited marketing and release. In any case, Powell looks forward to his future projects which are surely well-advertised. He’s also a famous figure now and he’s attracting a solid fan base.

Powell’s recently released projects include Hit Man and The Blue Angels, while his upcoming Twisters film will arrive on July 17.

Meanwhile, fans can stream Misconduct on Prime Video.
