John Boyega is a massive Star Wars fan and was fortunate to have starred in the high-grossing sequel trilogy of the space opera fantasy franchise. Yet, despite the massive opportunity and the effect it had on his career, the actor wasn’t afraid to call out Disney and others about how he and his character Finn were treated.
Over the years, while he seemed to have grown a more positive outlook on the fiasco, his fans are not ready to forgive Disney yet. Daisy Ridley, his co-star, will be returning to the Star Wars universe and remarked she would love to have Boyega back as well. However, Boyega’s fans don’t think that the George Lucas-created universe deserves him anymore.
Daisy Ridley Wants John Boyega Back in Star Wars
Daisy Ridley and John Boyega starred in the sequel trilogy of the Star Wars universe— The Force Awakens (2015), The Last Jedi (2017), and The Rise of Skywalker (2019). All movies were a commercial success, making more than 4.4 billion on the worldwide box office (via Box Office Mojo).
While the first two were critically well-received, the last one did not fare as well. Yet, the movies have since become a significant part of the mythos, and fans have welcomed the news that Ridley would be returning to another Star Wars movie.
Set 15 years after the events of Rise of Skywalker, the movie will be directed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy. While no significant details have been revealed yet, the actress in a new interview with The Hollywood Reporter remarked that she would love for her co-star John Boyega to return.
Absolutely, of course. It feels like we should, yeah.
While Boyega has yet to respond, fans have not forgotten how the franchise treated him when he first starred as Finn. The British actor had previously remarked to GQ about how challenging and disgraced he had felt for himself and his character when Finn was later pushed to the sides in the franchise.
Fans Don’t Want John Boyega to Return to The Star Wars Franchise
After berating Disney and the Star Wars universe, John Boyega has since made his peace with the terrible experience he had and heralded it as more of a learning one. In an interview with The Times of London (via Deadline), the actor remarked how all the good, bad, and ugly times made him grow.
Even in an interview with Tech Radar, the Breaking star remarked that he is open to all kinds of roles, including another stint in the Star Wars universe. So, while the actor might consider Daisy Ridley wanting him to return, fans have not forgotten his experience, and many remarked on social media that he does not need to go back.
He deserves better than to be dragged back.

Although Boyega remains a fan of Star Wars (via Games Radar) and is open to returning if the script is good enough, fans of him feel he has been treated too harshly in the past to come back to the franchise. While fans are busy contemplating Daisy Ridley’s comments, John Boyega has yet to remark.
