Last year, Zac Efron was all over the internet for his insane physical transformation in The Iron Claw. The 36-year-old brought the life of former wrestler Kevin Von Erich on-screen in his A24 sports drama. Fortunately, Efron’s hard work paid off as The Iron Claw was a critical and commercial hit, some even calling it the best in his career.
While the fans and critics loved how he brought Kevin Von Erich on-screen, his godly physique also affected his co-star Lily James. The fans were elated as the latter openly stated that the High School Musical trilogy alum’s physique distracted her during the filming.

Recently, we have seen several insane transformations in the industry. Jack Gyllenhaal conquered a large part of the internet earlier this year for his Road House transformation. Zac Efron was also unnoticeable while sporting the He-Man-esque jacked-up physique in A24’s sports biography.
Both Zac Efron and his trainer for the film, Farren Morgan talked about the transformation in numerous interviews. It must be noted that Efron is not new at pulling off transformations. He was required to pull off a lean look when he was cast opposite Dwayne Johnson in Baywatch. Nevertheless, The Iron Claw was a tougher experience as he wanted to look naturally bulked up.
Zac Efron’s bulked-up physique also attracted numerous eyeballs on set. Even the Golden Globe and Emmy-nominated actress Lily James found herself cajoled by her co-star’s physique. She commented to The Sun that the 17 Again actor’s muscles were more distracting than his hairstyle.
[He had] a great bowl cut, but he was also incredibly muscly, which was slightly more distracting. But what was more incredible is his performance, he has really transformed.
It was revealed that the Daytime Emmy-winning actor’s regime for The Iron Claw was more challenging than Baywatch. Farren Morgan admitted to British GQ that Zac Efron’s routine included overhead squats, pull-ups, back extensions, weighted hanging leg raises, and incline bench presses. Besides that, the actor also had to maintain a healthy sleep and diet schedule.
What did Zac Efron say about his latest Netflix film?
Zac Efron recently released a new Netflix film titled A Family Affair starring alongside Joey King and the one and only Nicole Kidman. It is a unique project as the rom-com features him as a popular movie star Chris Cole. Troubles arise when he falls in love with his young personal assistant’s (Joey King) widowed mother (Nicole Kidman).
When the entire cast of the film sat for a conversation with Parade, Zac Efron was asked if he could relate to anything about his character. He replied that there were some familiar elements but he also “amplified” some aspects.
It’s kind of a mix. I think there are feelings that he’s experiencing that I’ve definitely felt myself at times, but I just kind of amplified some of the ways that I guess he’s more afraid of things. Unfortunately, when you’re going through some of those emotions, you can tend to take it out on the people closest to you, which he does to Zara.
Although the synopsis of the film suggests that Joey King’s Zara has a troubled relationship with her boss Chris Cole, Efron’s statement suggests otherwise. He added that by the end of the film, viewers will understand that even after the tumultuous bond, she is Chris’ best friend and the latter also cares about her a lot.
