The Iron Claw was unarguably one of the best films from 2023, garnering massive critical commendation in both its reviews and box office earnings. In fact, people even called the movie Zac Efron’s career’s best performance, because it most certainly was. Despite that, the masterpiece was brutally snubbed at the Academy Awards 2024, not even scoring a single nomination.

Needless to mention, this brought about a lot of rage from fans and viewers who were absolutely in love with the epic performance Efron delivered in the movie. And now, it seems like the fan-favorite Formula One race car driver Lewis Hamilton has also joined that league, considering how he expressed the 2023 masterpiece deserved to be treated with a lot more recognition than that.

Lewis Hamilton Has Joined the True The Iron Claw Fanbase

Everyone knows the 2023 sports/thriller for the masterpiece that it was, starring some of the most fan-favorite actors in its lead to deliver a truly immaculate performance. And yet, when it came to being recognized widely through the most important awards ceremony, i.e. The Academy Awards, it was totally let down.

The film couldn’t garner even one nomination at the Oscars 2024, let alone win the accolade that it very well deserved. Well, if not the others, at least Zac Efron most certainly deserved one Academy Award for Best Actor because his performance in the movie was nothing short of blissfully perfect, to the point where many even considered it the best act of his entire career.

And yet, it was snubbed, leaving its fanbase of millions, consisting of both critics and general audiences, disappointed alike. While it was previously fans campaigning for the masterpiece’s mistreatment at the hands of the Academy, one other celebrity has joined their league to express that the film truly deserved more: Lewis Hamilton.

Well, at least that’s what the Formula One hotshot shared during a recent interview with Vanity Fair at the GQ Creativity Awards when asked for the best film/TV show he had watched recently. He said (via @VanityFair on X):

“I watched ‘The Iron Claw’ the other day. It didn’t get the nominations and stuff that I feel like it deserved. I was really proud of Zac for his performance.”

There you have it. As it turns out, fans were actually right and not delulu to think that Efron deserved that win for his top-notch performance as Kevin Von Erich in the sports/thriller movie. And this response from Hamilton has only further elevated them in their stance.

Fans are Agreeing with the F1 Legend’s Reviews on The Iron Claw

The Iron Claw was indeed filled with a lot of emotions, with Efron and Jeremy Allen White perfectly combining that rare sensitivity with incredible intensity as the leads to present a true piece of masterwork. That said, Efron most certainly added much more depth to the character than anyone else ever could.

This is why, when the movie got snubbed at the Academy Awards, fans felt the heartbreak the most for Efron, who gave it his all and delivered the performance of a lifetime. And now that Hamilton has brought that topic up back on the platform, fans are agreeing with him and once again campaigning for Efron’s loss.

Well, as much as these reactions are only true and understandable, we hate to admit that the damage has already been done by the Academy when it comes to giving the Efron-starred critically acclaimed piece of sheer brilliance the true recognition it deserved.
