The starter machine gun is quite flexible and almost always a good choice, according to user Samuraistalin. It’s especially helpful as an on-the-go weapon or when you’ve got to hunker down and stand your ground by crouching and going prone.
What brought on the whole post was a recent incident where the OP switched his weapons with a friend who just started Helldivers 2 to give him a taste of high-level gear. OP ended up using the base machine gun and rediscovered their love for it.
The gun’s recoil isn’t too bad, and if you know what you’re doing and are positioned properly, it’s an absolute beast to use. For context, the base machine gun is capable of firing at 630 rounds per minute, 760rpm, and 900rpm. It has a capacity of 150 and carries 2 magazines worth of ammo at once.
