Now, the problem lies for another co-op title, Helldivers 2 from Arrowhead Games Studios, as the upcoming title is going to be a direct competitor of it. Both games are based on a similar intergalactic sci-fi shooting environment. However, there is one aspect of that Offworld title that is going to be the game changer, which the Arrowhead title doesn’t even have.

Extermination, the co-op bug buster, has a unique feature that we have never seen in any other games so far. The game will soon leave the early access phase and go for a full 1.0 release in October. In its recent update, Carnage on Planet X-11, which is about to be released at the end of June, there will be a feature called “persistent bug bodies.”

With this feature, you can leave all the corpses and carcasses of the bugs you have massacred on the battlefield, and all of these will pile up one by one. These piles can be piled, and even you can take cover with them, like Cask of Amontillado-style. Helldivers 2, being inspired by the Star Troopers franchise itself, doesn’t even have this feature. That’s why this is going to be a big problem for the Arrowhead co-op shooter.

The game lead, Peter Maurice, was so excited to see this feature that he couldn’t help but praise his tech team:

Along with it, there is another unique aspect that Helldivers 2 doesn’t have. Both being co-op multiplayer shooters, Extermination supports up to 16 players, whereas the other one only supports 4.

That is another reason besides the “persistent bug bodies” feature that made Maurice say:

“No other game has been able to achieve persistent death at the scale we’re doing.”

Extermination embarks upon the journey of an elite spec-ops group within the Mobile Infantry. The selected operators will get orders from the legendary Johnny Rico. And this time, this character has been played by none other than Casper Van Dien.

The game will feature 25 distinctive missions and a variety of PvE scenarios across multiple environments. After these missions are finished, there is a second chapter of the game lined up as well, which will be launched afterward.
