Christopher Daniel Barnes, who voiced the Animated Spider-Man series’ title character, said that he would love to return to voice the titular character again. This seems plausible as Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige previously insisted on bringing the cast of X-Men: The Animated Series to X-Men ’97. Also, it worked.

Marvel Studios reliving the nostalgia is working in their favor as the studio has tried the strategy with Tom Holland’s Spider-Man: No Way Home, bringing back Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man alongside their villains. The movie was an astonishing hit after Avengers: Endgame, claiming a whopping $1.9 billion worldwide (per The Numbers).

Now, with reviving the nostalgia in X-Men ’97, Marvel Studios has seemingly shown the intention to extend the strategy further after the failed attempt of the studio to have their box office clutch again with Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and The Marvels. Regardless, it is fair to assume that Barnes’ return could be the next big surprise for fans.

Marvel Studios is bringing a brand new Spider-Man animated series, Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man for Dinsey+. However, details of the show are under wraps, including the cast of the title character. And now, Marvel fans are demanding Barnes’ return to the show after Spider-Man’s appearance in X-Men ’97. The actor also loved the idea of Spider-Man ’98, “I’d love that! Let’s hope!” as he wrote on X.

Presumably, Holland will not voice the character in Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man as Marvel Studios might not want to mix up the character with the live-action version. Hudson Thames gave voice to What If… Zombies? episode, but as the upcoming show reportedly “celebrates the character’s early comic book roots,” (via CBR) Feige might bring back Barnes. Thankfully, the actor has already shown his interest. “If they asked me I wouldn’t hesitate! Let’s hope!” Barnes wrote on X.

X-Men ’97 is now streaming on Disney+.
