Spider-Man is making a comeback in the cinematic neighborhood soon. This time around, though, he is coming in animation, but the excitement about it is no less. Fans were convinced that Marvel’s 2024 would be a barren desert as the highly anticipated movie Deadpool 3 was the only project scheduled to be released, but luckily that does seem to be the case.

Marvel Animation’s Your Friendly Neighbourhood Spider-Man must be ringing a bell in the minds of those fans, who were eagerly waiting for the web-slinger to have his animated show. With Disney releasing the logo for the show, fans might wonder about the possibility of any original MCU character appearing in the show, especially since Tom Holland is reportedly not a part of the project.

The one Marvel character that could have made an appearance in the show is Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man. However, this does not seem likely.

Tom Holland is Not the Only MCU Actor That Might Not Be a Part of Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man

Back in December 2023, Marvel made several announcements (via IGN). Besides revealing the first details of the Black Panther spinoff Eyes of Wakanda, the studios re-confirmed X-Men ’97 and announced that the show which was previously called Spider-Man: Freshman Year (originally announced in 2021 by Marvel) would be known as Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man.

Although this series is a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it is set in an alternate reality in which Peter Parker is mentored by Norman Osborn instead of Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man. This was a mighty good chance for the franchise to bring back Downey Jr.’s Iron Man.

Hudson Thames, who voiced the character of Peter Parker in What If…? in the episode What If… Zombies?!, is listed on the registration record for the show in the U.S. Copyright Office Public Records System as the voice of Peter Parker. Tom Holland is reportedly not going to voice the character (via The Illuminerdi) and Norman Osborn being Parker’s mentor, sadly, also cancels out the chances of Downey Jr. making a comeback.

The marquee superhero joined the superhero universe back in 2016’s Captain America: Civil War. Since then, he has been on quite a few adventures, but his origin has not been explored yet, and this series is going to do exactly that.

The plot details for this show released by Marvel in 2021 read:

“The animated series follows Peter Parker on his way to becoming Spider-Man in the MCU, with a journey unlike we’ve ever seen and a style that celebrates the character’s early comic book roots.”

While other details regarding the show are not known yet, IMDB has listed Charlie Cox’s Daredevil, Paul F. Tompkins’s Bentley Witman, and Vincent D’Onofrio’s Kingpin are listed as members of the cast.
