Spoiler Alert!
Minor Spoilers For The Boys Season 4

Starring alongside Antony Starr’s Homelander, the character of Firecracker is somewhat similar to Stormfront. However, there is a difference between reality and fiction. In this case, there’s a pretty gigantic difference between Varolie Curry (the actress) and her on-screen portrayal of Firecracker and for Curry… it’s a good thing.

Valorie Curry identifies herself as a lesbian so, portraying an anti-LGBTQ+ role in The Boys was something that was quite the contradiction. However, in an interview with The Advocate, Valorie Curry revealed that she loved playing the character because she could purposefully sabotage her!

I love that I get to play her because I think it should be one of our own that gets to make an a** out of her, that gets to satirize her and make a clown out of her.

She further continued,

However, the inspiration behind the character of Firecracker wasn’t a happy trail down memory lane. Fans know that The Boys takes the modern world and depicts it with its satirical social commentary.

A similar thing happened with the character of Firecracker. While shooting the series, some of the things that Valorie Curry said while portraying her character weren’t dialogues but actual statements from elected officials!

The Boys Used Real-Life Statements From People!

Being an anti-LGBTQ+ person in the Amazon Prime Video show, Firecracker had some bold and controversial words to say during her appearances in the episodes. Well, not all lines were from the imagination of creator Eric Kripke!

As the interview further continued, Valorie Curry certainly made a shocking revelation about the modern world. According to her, many of the anti-LGBTQ+ lines that Firecracker says in the show were said by an elected official!

Often some of the worst things that Firecracker says are quotes from elected officials. And so I’m glad that they didn’t make it general and they didn’t soften it.

Well, that’s The Boys for you. Adding controversy with just the right amount of sarcasm and disgusting scenes that will ruin your appetite. But, that’s the TV show that we have known and loved for all these years.

With 4 seasons to its name, The Boys received a rating of 8.7/10 on IMDB and a whopping 93% on Rotten Tomatoes. The iconic show is currently streaming on Amazon Prime Video in the U.S. and the world.
