Drew McIntyre and CM Punk feud has always been filled with twists and turns even before Punk was medically cleared to appear in a match with The Scottish Warrior. But prior to their in-ring match, the duo has been teasing each other, with Punk even costing the other a match.
CM Punk’s narrative in WWE after his decade-long hiatus is yet to be formed, but the promotion has certainly given us the essential hints about his feud after his tricep injuries. A Punk vs. McIntyre match is imminent, but before that, McIntyre has another message for the Best In The World.
Drew McIntyre’s Brutal Message To CM Punk
Drew McIntyre has been a vehement critic of CM Punk, and the rivalry between the duo has extended to a new height. After a series of mishaps between the two, including Punk’s funeral meme t-shirt and Punk costing McIntyre a match with Jey Uso, The Scottish Warrior has a new message for Punk.
“The internet is telling the truth. I’ve said it in interviews already. I am hurt, but I keep pushing through because I’m not a pathetic coward little b*tch like CM Punk,” McIntyre recently said (via Fightful Wrestling).
McIntyre is reportedly working through his injuries (per Yahoo Entertainment). He has not worked in a match since the RAW after WrestleMania, where he lost a fatal four-way match due to CM Punk’s interruption. As per a report by Mike Johnson of PWInsider, McIntyre “badly hyperextended elbow.” Also, the WWE contract with McIntyre is expiring soon, and the promotion will likely renew the contract to add more layers to the Punk vs McIntyre story.
Drew McIntyre Wanted a Match With CM Punk At SummerSlam
It is unclear why Punk and McIntyre got into a feud, but it has accelerated with a pace for a future brawl— perhaps, SummerSlam? There are a couple of months for both of them to recover and be medically cleared, and it is the perfect time to elevate their stories in a similar fashion as the promotion intends. Appearing in an interview with the Gorilla Position podcast, The Scottish Warrior shared that he is game for a match with Punk.
“Yeah, I just hope he’s careful. Just worried he’s going to injure something else during rehab. Man’s made of glass. I want that match. I really want that match. I’m just concerned for him, especially wrestling someone like me. I’m a freaking monster in there. … I got my hands on him. You saw what I did to him at Rumble. I tore him to pieces. I chopped him to bits. … Punk was black and blue. I ended up hurting him in there.”
A Punk vs McIntyre match is most plausible for WWE to book as there are no words on Roman Reigns’ potential rematch with Cody Rhodes as of yet. So, both superstars are likely to settle the scores before they rush for a shot at the Universal Championship.
