Meanwhile, the Aloha actor moved on to concentrate on expanding his blockbuster franchise A Quiet Place, which will see the release of the spin-off prequel on June 28th, starring Lupita Nyong’o. Krasinski also joined forces with another big star, Ryan Reynolds, in the animated comedy IF, which he acted in, produced, and directed.

The film, which released in May 2024, follows the story of a young girl and her neighbor who find themselves having the ability to see imaginary friends. Reynolds, who played the character Cal, and Krasinski, who played the protagonist Bea’s father, sat down for an entertaining interview with Screen Crush, which saw them being grilled by two young girls.

The conversation which veered from their careers to the impact of this film on their own children, ended up with The Office star facing a hilarious roast from the two young hosts who brought up his failed MCU gig.

One of the interviewers revealed that her father gave her an acting tip to never look at the camera, which was just the opposite of what Krasinski did in The Office, according to her. When the star punched back asking if her dad had ever been an actor, she unflinchingly looked him in the eye and asked,

Is that why you don’t get to be in The Fantastic Four? Coz you always look at the camera when you act?.

The Jarhead actor, who was too stunned by the smartness of the young host, recovered quickly to sportingly take a dig at himself about losing Mr. Fantastic to Pascal.

Yes, I had signed an 8-year deal and they said, ‘if you look at the camera one more d*mn time’,  and I did, and they broke it off yeah, into an 8-minute deal.

Through this priceless reply, Krasinski proved that he can take any jibe in his stride, and can move on from the possible disappointment of losing a role that could have given him a bigger dimension to his existing success as an actor.

Through his character Jim Halpert, who was an ordinary guy holding a 9 to 5 job, Krasinski endeared himself to the audiences with his relatable persona. So much so that he was recognized by the name of his character by people on the streets. This ironically backfired on him with his two daughters who mistook his role in The Office for actually being his real job.

Speaking to The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, the star revealed what went down when his daughter questioned him after an encounter with a fan who recognized him from The Office. When Krasinski denied the young girl’s claims that the man was his colleague, she said,

The Jack Ryan actor further revealed that his predicament was heightened by the fact that his wife Emily Blunt was considered by their daughters as having the coolest job owing to her appearance in Mary Poppins. Krasinski jokingly confessed that his children believed Blunt married him out of pity.
