Logan Paul defended his United States Championship after defeating Kevin Owens and Randy Orton in a triple-threat match at WrestleMania 40. While Paul is celebrated as one of the promising wrestlers in the company, Ronda Rousey has slammed WWE for giving the YouTuber special treatment. However, fans sided with Paul, whom they acknowledged as a greater WWE wrestler than Rousey.
Rousey did not have a lasting impact during her career at WWE, despite her 231-day reign as Raw Women’s Champion. Rousey has been recently promoting her new book Our Fight, which is a biography of her life as a UFC champion and subsequent fall from fame.
Ronda Rousey Slams WWE For Giving Logan Paul Special Treatment
Ronda Rousey turned over to pro wrestling from UFC. Her UFC career ended in shambles after her embarrassing defeat against Holly Holm at UFC 193. She held the titles of Raw Women’s Champion and SmackDown Women’s Champion in WWE, but her career at the company did not last long. After Logan Paul‘s win at WrestleMania 40, Rousey complained that Paul was given special treatment at the company.
Speaking with Jackass alum Steve-O on his podcast Wild Ride, Rousey shared that she wished she received the same treatment as Paul from WWE. Rousey told Steve-O that the company gave Paul enough time to rehearse and all the resources he needed so that he could pull off an amazing win at WrestleMania. She shared on Wild Ride:
“It’s not evenly spread. He’s their next big star, you know? They’re rolling out the red carpet. It goes to show that if you give people the time to rehearse and the resources, you can do amazing things. It’s frustrating that everybody doesn’t get that treatment.”
Rousey wanted the treatment given to Paul to be made into a standard model. She shared that Paul gave fantastic performances with this consideration. She shared that WWE should put more organization and effort into each wrestler. She also noted how the company was performing well despite the issues. Rousey shared:
“Why isn’t this the model? They’re doing that with Logan Paul and he’s having these fantastic performances. Look what you guys can do when you put organization and effort into things! It blows my mind that this billion-dollar company is succeeding despite itself in so many ways.”
While Rousey admitted receiving the ‘special treatment’ for her first match, she was never given the same opportunity. She revealed that she was allotted six weeks to prepare for the match and delivered an impeccable result. In her first match, she teamed up with Kurt Angle to take down Triple H and Stephanie McMahon at WrestleMania 34.
Fans Side With Logan Paul As Ronda Rousey Accuses Special Treatment
Fans were heavily critical of Ronda Rousey after her comments against Logan Paul and WWE. Even haters of the YouTuber flooded the comment section with support, calling him a good wrestler and entertainer. One comment shared that Paul was doing his job really well, unlike Rousey. Another comment shared that he could cut a promo and be entertaining, which makes WWE invest more in him.
One fan commented that Rousey was also given these opportunities, but she couldn’t pull off an entertaining persona in the ring or for the mic. Another fan explained that Paul brought a lot of value to the WWE and hence the company was repaying him back. However, Rousey couldn’t provide WWE with what they needed. Some of the fan reactions read:
it’s almost like he’s doing his job really well

In Logan Paul’s defense at least he can cut a promo and be entertaining

she's acted like she wasn't handed spots/titles/segments…. only difference is he's actually good on the mic and in the ring lmao so she's seeing those spots everywhere

It's about value, logan brings alot of value to the table so in return wwe will also give him value within wwe.
It's not the same as a wrestler trying to make it where they have to prove their worth to wwe for years so they gain value in JUST being a wrestler

Her first match was with Stephanie McMahon and Triple H and teamed with Kurt Angle and she got a title within her first few months in WWE

Despite being an undercard match, Paul’s fight against Randy Orton and Kevin Owens was interesting as hell. The special cameo from IShowSpeed just elevated the entertainment value of the event. In the final moments, Paul threw Orton out of the ring and pinned Owens down to retain the US Championship title.
