The Kissing Booth star and her husband Steven Piet went on a romantic getaway to Barcelona during her filming break from the series. As they visited one of the most luxurious restaurants in the world, the actress had a rough experience with the ridiculous 28-course meal that the restaurant had.

King expressed to Jimmy Kimmel and the audience that she was shocked by the number of courses and by number 17, she was too full. As they returned to their hotel and planned to head out to explore Barcelona, King felt sick and spent the majority of the duration of her holiday by the side of the toilet, regretting the overwhelming meal she had. She said,

“So we go there, and we’re just so pumped. And we get there; It’s 28 courses,” King recalled. “I just want to repeat myself. It’s 28 courses. It was a lot. They kept bringing out food that looked like one food but tasted like another food. So then we wrap up this meal and we’re so full,” the actress continued. “I mean to be honest with you I was full [by] course 17.

…I’m like, ‘Woah…’ you know what I mean?” She told the audience. “And then I realized, ‘Oh God, I think I’m going to experience all 28 courses again.’ I just want to say, I don’t want to get graphic, but I spent way more time with the toilet than with my husband [on] that trip.”

King further stated that while she felt miserable after their meal, her husband was not as affected by the meal as her. Audiences were in splits with King’s hilarious recollection of the incident and her facial expressions clearly show how much she regretted the decision to eat the overwhelming meal.

Being Jewish, Joey King’s latest project We Were The Lucky Ones was a challenging one for the actress as the show chronicles the horrible realities of the Holocaust. The actress in a recent interview with Indiewire, recollected her experience watching and reading various Holocaust narratives throughout her life.

She stated that 2008’s The Boy in the Striped Pajamas left a lasting impact on her and has heard various experiences from many Holocaust survivors. The rich knowledge that she has accumulated over the years felt like a preparation for her latest role in the Hulu show. She said,

“I can’t remember the first book I read about the Holocaust, but I think that one of the first movies I remember ever seeing about the Holocaust was The Boy in the Striped Pajamas and that really deeply affected me. And throughout my life, I’ve just read so many different recounts of survivors from the Holocaust and their true stories. But in terms of knowing about what happened in the Holocaust, I had been kind of preparing for this role my whole life in a way, in terms of the knowledge that I already had.”

In addition to King, the show also stars Logan Lerman, Henry Lloyd-Hughes, Amit Rahav and Hadas Yaron,  Lior Ashkenazi, and Robin Weigert. The show premiered on March 28, 2024, with its first three episodes and the remaining 5 episodes will be released weekly till May 2, 2024.
