Todd Phillips Shares the First Official Teaser For Joker 2
The first official footage of Todd Phillips‘ Joker: Folie à Deux has been released. The footage is shared by the official Twitter page of Joker Movie along with the announcement of the time for the official trailer release. The tweet states that the official trailer for the highly anticipated sequel will be revealed at 6:30 pm PT.
The brief clip features Joaquin Phoenix in what appears to be the Arkham Asylum, where Joker 2 is expected to be based. Drenched in the rain, Arthur Fleck seems to be having an episode of his neurological disorder, as he is seen uncontrollably laughing in the teaser.
The small clip for the sequel, however, does not reveal any further details about the upcoming film, which is set to star the actress-singer Lady Gaga as Dr. Harleen Quinzel, aka Harley Quinn alongside the Oscar-winning actor.
The 2019 film was a huge hit, grossing over $1 billion at the box office and earning two Oscars for Best Actor to Joaquin Phoenix and Best Original Score at the 92nd Academy Awards. While Joker was conceived as a standalone film, its triumph prompted the development of a sequel.
Nothing much has been revealed about the sequel other than that it will be set in Arkham Asylum and that it will be a musical. However, it is expected to explore the intricate relationship between Harley Quinn and Joker.
Joker 2 Will Reportedly Feature At Least 15 Cover Songs
Starring the Grammy-winning singer Lady Gaga and Joaquin Phoenix, Joker 2 is reported to be a musical. While specific details regarding the number of original songs in the film remain undisclosed, Variety has reported that it will feature 15 “reinterpretations” of some of the most popular songs.
The report also mentioned That’s Entertainment from the 1953 musical The Band Wagon as one of the potential songs that could be featured in the film. Additionally, there’s speculation that the movie might include some original compositions as well.
While the creators of these original songs remain unknown, Hildur Guðnadóttir, the Oscar-winning composer of the 2019 film could reportedly “infuse her distinctive, haunting [music] cues” into these compositions.
