After 12 silent years, we can finally experience the game that was birthed by legendary video game director, designer, and writer SUDA51 on the big screen with crisp visuals, audio, and gameplay. This time, the game was handled by Dragami Games (Root Letter, GOD WARS, Relayer Advanced).

It will launch at $49.99 for the PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, and PC on September 25th, although pre-orders are yet to be announced. A physical release is also planned for later.

There are a ton of QoL improvements and additional content they’ve packed into the release to make the game feel familiar and modern, but not a complete repeat of the original.

Straight from the official website, some of the QoL changes are faster loading types, full HD resolution, faster action with better input times, and the like.

In terms of additional gameplay content, Repop adds a special mode separate from the original mode, which incorporates unique and colorful pop art for damage effects as a sort of censorship mode.

There are also new chainsaws with different features, new costumes, and a time-attack mode, to name a few more things.

With a cult classic like this franchise being remade and so many great changes being added, fans are confused: How come this was given the cold shoulder at the Summer Games Showcase?

The Summer Showcase was a great event with many interesting reveals and there was no doubt a lot more liked it than PlayStation’s disastrous State of Play or the Summer Game Fest.

With so many hopeful eyes on it, it would’ve been the perfect place to drop the reveal trailer for Repop.

One of the most common replies to the remake seems to be hilarious anecdotes about not being able to play the game when it originally came out because of the age rating.

Not everyone’s convinced about this remake situation, however. There seem to be complaints about the trailer’s poor quality in comparison to the original and the newer version not looking as polished as it should be.

It remains to be seen whether public opinion will change once we get to see some more gameplay and action.
