Nvidia’s new software, RTX remix, has recently released an open beta for modders to test and bring out the best of its potential. Nvidia RTX remix enables the enhancement of old game titles with the help of ray tracing, NVIDIA DLSS, NVIDIA Reflex, modern physically-based rendering (PBR) assets, and generative AI texture tools.

This new development in Nvidia’s technology is making a lot of fans excited to see their old, beloved titles make a comeback. Bloodborne has been a PlayStation-exclusive title ever since its release, and with the current wave of RTX remix, conversations about Bloodborne’s PC port have surfaced.

Miyazaki wants to see players enjoy his games across platforms

Bloodborne’s potential PC port announcement has been on people’s minds for a long time, but Hidetaka Miyazaki has kept himself shut from the conversation most of the time. FromSoftware’s Bloodborne was released in 2015 as a PlayStation-exclusive title and has been with Sony ever since.

The reason for Miyazaki’s silence is in relation to the IP ownership of the game, which he does not have, and that puts him in no position to answer questions on behalf of a game owned by another organization.

However, in an interview with PC Gamer, the interviewer managed to break the ice and ask him about Bloodborne’s potential PC port release, especially now that Sony has been releasing its titles on Steam. Answering whether or not he would like a Bloodborne PC release, he said:

If I say I want one, I’ll get in trouble as well. But it’s nothing I’m opposed to.

He further added:

Obviously, as one of the creators of Bloodborne, my personal, pure honest opinion is I’d love more players to be able to enjoy it. Especially as a game that is now coming of age, one of those games of the past that gets lost on older hardware—I think any game like that, it’d be nice to have an opportunity for more players to be able to experience that and relive this relic of the past. So as far as I’m concerned, that’s definitely not something I’d be opposed to.

The time has never been right to ask questions about Bloodborne’s PC port release, especially with technologies like Nvidia’s RTX remix redefining the way old game titles will be viewed in the future.

The Nvidia RTX remix is a promising start toward game restoration

With the introduction of the RTX remix, Nvidia is on a virtuous path to restoring old game titles. Nvidia has released a list of games compatible with RTX remix, which includes Call of Duty 2, Hitman 2: Silent Assassin, Garry’s Mod, Freedom Fighters, Need for Speed Underground 2, and Vampire: The Masquerade: Bloodlines, among others

Any game lover of the old PC games is in for a treat. Remix was built on NVIDIA’s Omniverse 3D graphics collaboration platform, which enables end-to-end remastering of any Direct X 8 or 9 titles. It consists of 2 main components: one that enables it to change the lighting by creating new lighting scenarios, and the other that enables the addition of assets.

Nvidia claims that their new tool is capable of manipulating and remastering any game from start to finish, despite it still being in its beta phase. These claims are interesting, and with the tool being free of charge, it’ll widen the scope of response Nvidia gets from the market, which will help them make it better. The future of gaming has never looked more interesting.
