Payday 3 stumbled into more obstacles than a rookie bank robber on a laser grid when it first came out—we all are aware of that by now. Yet, like some tenacious cat burglar, the game has been steadily patching its way into becoming a competent product.

The same applies to how Starbreeze Studios is carrying itself online. The company’s recent replies to people asking about the game’s current status suggest that, while the devs continue to remain in the trenches, they are trying their hardest to fight for redemption.

Look, there are no two ways about it—there are many games that you can play at the moment that serve the exact niche that Payday 3 currently sits in, albeit to a lesser degree. Heck, you can even play Rockay City if you’re into that.

However, there’s also no denying that Starbreeze is hard at work making its game a success, with multiple patches and content add-ons flowing into the game every month. The Steam charts also reflect this, as it is currently making a slow but steady upward climb back into prominence.

Recently, when one X/Twitter user callously asked if the game was “still shit,” Payday 3’s handle responded with honesty and class, saying:

Most appreciated the handle’s honesty in replying to such tweets and congratulated Starbreeze for the steady progress that they’ve been making with the game.

That’s all that matters at the end of the day, too. Starbreeze clearly made some bad decisions with the game. But, they now seem to understand how incomparable their series is to other games within the Heist genre.

They are making efforts to ensure Payday 3 realizes its potential, perhaps even surpassing its predecessor in the process. So, for now, the best thing would be to continue cheering the developers for sticking with their product and hoping for proper success in the future.

Since February of this year, especially, Payday 3 has received a series of updates and patches that have significantly improved many of its aspects, from performance to gameplay design concerns.

It seems that much of Starbreeze’s focus has been on enhancing the game’s server stability and reducing matchmaking wait times, which, according to some folks, has indeed led to smoother experiences.

Not only that, but stability on consoles has improved tremendously, as the game seldom crashes on PS5 and Xbox. But perhaps the most significant change has come in the form of the progression system overhaul, which has made playing the game a lot more rewarding to, well, actually play.

Keeping all that in mind, and considering the game is currently selling for just $19.99, it is the perfect time to jump back in. That said, what are your thoughts on Payday 3 today? Would you like to revisit the game once more? Let us know in the comments below!
