Although it is sad news that The Movie Critic has been scrapped, there is a silver lining to this cloud as well. Canceling The Movie Critic gives Tarantino enough space and time to direct and finally complete his version of The Dollars Trilogy with a final… Kill Bill Vol. 3!
Quentin Tarantino Could Direct Kill Bill Vol. 3!
Starring Uma Thurman in the lead role of The Bride, the Kill Bill franchise became a Quentin Tarantino special since its release. With two films to its name, Tarantino had always wanted to complete the trilogy with Kill Bill Vol. 3. Although he never got the chance, it seems that with the cancelation of The Movie Critic, Quentin Tarantino might as well… develop Kill Bill Vol. 3!
Wanting to retire from Hollywood after directing 10 films, Tarantino had always stated that he wanted to leave on a high note. It appears that there could be no note higher than the Django Unchained director completing his trilogy with the Kill Bill franchise and ending the film in an endless loop of violence, where another massacre takes place and another Bride rises. This would indeed be quite an ending for the Kill Bill franchise, since Tarantino had talked about his plans for another sequel to the Kill Bill franchise!
Quentin Tarantino Had Talked About Kill Bill Vol. 3 Years Ago!
It was back in April of 2004 when Quentin Tarantino revealed in an interview with Entertainment Weekly that he was planning a sequel for Kill Bill Vol. 2. Revealing a storyline for the movie, Tarantino was quite excited about the project.
“Oh yeah, initially I was thinking this would be my Dollars Trilogy’. I was going to do a new one every ten years. But I need at least fifteen years before I do this again. I’ve already got the whole mythology: Sofie Fatale will get all of Bill’s money. She’ll raise Nikki, who’ll take on The Bride.”
He further continued,
“Nikki deserves her revenge every bit as much as The Bride deserved hers. I might even shoot a couple of scenes for it now so I can get the actresses while they’re this age.”
Well, with the cancelation of The Movie Critic, it could be a possibility that fans might get to see Tarantino end his version of the Dollars Trilogy with Kill Bill Vol. 3. Although there have been rumors and speculations about the third film, nothing can be confirmed or denied at this moment except that Tarantino is still in the film industry.
Kill Bill Vol. 1 & 2 received a strong rating of 8.2/10 on IMDB and a high of 81% and 85% on Rotten Tomatoes respectively. Both films are currently available to stream on Netflix in the U.S.
