With the nigh impenetrable fortress of Helm’s Deep getting exploded in The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers, Gimli runs and blows the Horns of Helm Hammerhand. People, however, never got to know who was Helm Hammerhand and why was there a horn dedicated to him. An upcoming animated film is about to release and the film is all about the Rohirrim!

Warner Bros. Animation, New Line Cinema, and, Sola Entertainment recently previewed the 20 minutes of its upcoming film titled The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim, and the reviews are awesome. In an interview (via Variety), Andy Serkis, who voiced the character of Gollum in The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit franchise had nothing but praise for the upcoming film.

Well, that single line is enough to get millions of Lord of the Rings fans excited for the release of the upcoming film. From what we know so far, The War of the Rohirrim will tell a familiar tale with unfamiliar characters.

Set 200 years before Bilbo Baggins found the One Ring, the animated film will see the war of the Rohirrim take charge against evil and Mordor.

Why Did Andy Serkis Praise The War of the Rohirrim?

Alongside the fabulous animation style that director Kenji Kamiyama has put in the film, there are several reasons for fans to be excited about the upcoming film. From what we know, the film will focus on the House of Helm Hammerhand, the King of Rohan.

The film is set 200 years before Bilbo Baggins came in contact with the One Ring and will serve as a prequel to The Lord of the Rings. Plot details state that the focus will be given to Helm Hammerhand (voiced by Brian Cox) and his daughter Princess Héra (voiced by Gaia Wise).

For the OG fans, Miranda Otto, who portrayed the role of Eowyn in the original trilogy, will be the narrator of this tale. Therefore, there would be a hint of familiarity within the film and yet, some new characters in the world of J.R.R. Tolkien. The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim is set for a release date of 13 December 2024 in the U.S.

On the other hand, Gollum actor Andy Serkis is all set to reprise his role as Smeagol/Gollum in the upcoming film The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum. The film will narrate the tale of Aragorn going on a hunt for Gollum and capturing him after which Gandalf interrogates him and finds out that Sauron knows about two things “Bagginssssss!” and “Shire!!!!!!!”. 

A release date for Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum hasn’t been released yet but it has been confirmed that Andy Serkis will serve as the actor for Gollum and the director of the film as well. Overall, fans of the Lord of the Rings franchise are not going to be disappointed in the coming years!
