Earlier this year, The Rock made an $11 million deal with the Army to help enlist new recruits by posting 5 military ads on his Instagram, with each post valued at $1 million. Additionally, the actor was also to promote the military through ads in between his UFL games and also through player’s uniforms. UFL is a little-known football league and not many attended its games, leading to concerns over the deal. The Rock also reportedly did not hold up his end of the bargain as he posted only two ads on his Instagram instead of the planned five posts. Despite the deal failing to bring up any recruits, The Rock remains a good partner (via The Daily Beast) to the Army.

Garcia revealed that Red One is a big Christmas movie that matches the aura and tenor of Johnson. He further stated that the film’s tone is very similar to Hobbs and Shaw and Guardians of the Galaxy. Garcia teased that the film has a lot of mythological elements along with being a globe-trotting adventure. The producer said,

What I can tell you is that it is a very big Christmas movie. I think, in tone. We had been looking for something that matched, the tone and tenor of DJ and what DJ brings to the table, so were able to come up with a really fun Christmas idea, but in tone, it’s much more of a Hobbs & Shaw, more of Guardians of the Galaxy in tone and vibe because you’re dealing with crazy mythological elements, turning a lot of tropes we know about the holidays on their head, but also really big action and globe-trotting.

Johnson stars alongside Chris Evans, Kiernan Shipka, Lucy Liu, Mary Elizabeth Ellis, J. K. Simmons, Nick Kroll, and Kristofer Hivju in Red One. The fun and fantastical trailer of the film was recently released which intrigued fans. Red One will hit theatres on November 15, 2024.
