Helldivers 2 players got their hands on the RL-77 Airburst Rocket Launcher after completing a recent Major Order. This Support Weapon stratagem in Helldivers 2 is thrilling to use but some players have claimed that the weapon is ineffective against armor. Well, one Helldivers 2 player has pointed out that players have been expecting the wrong outcome as this weapon was designed to be that way.
As per the game description, the RL-77 Airbust Rocket Launcher fires a rocket that detonates within proximity of a target and deploys a cluster of explosive bomblets. This weapon is capable of taking down the Broadcast Tower in 1-2 rockets. It was up to the players to choose between the MD-17 Anti-Tank Mines or RL-77 Airbust Rocket Launcher, depending on the planet they liberated as a part of the Major Order revealed on the 26th of April 2024. In the latest patch, 1.000.300, Arrowhead made some small changes to the weapon.
Players are using the RL-77 Airburst Rocket Launcher against the wrong enemies
The complaints regarding the RL-77 Airburst Rocket Launcher being useless against armor made this Helldivers 2 player very agitated. A Reddit user named Jordan_1424 recently posted a rant on the r/Helldivers2 subreddit, pointing out that fans shouldn’t expect the RL-77 Airburst Rocket Launcher to be effective against different types of armor.
The player blasted all the players after some complained that the weapon was ineffective against armor. Gamers simply need to use this weapon against the Terminid faction, as they are unarmored and don’t use fortifications.
The RL-77 Airburst Rocket Launcher was recently fixed
Apparently, this was not the only problem players faced with the RL-77 Airburst Rocket Launcher as some players have reported that the rocket randomly explodes, leading to squad wipes. Hence, Arrowhead decided to make some changes to it in the latest 1.000.300 patch.
Now, the Airburst Rocket Launcher will no longer detonate when shot near stratagems like HMG turret, Sentries, Resupplies, and other Helldivers. Plus, the proximity radius is now reduced. The gun was added to the game as a part of the Major Order dropped on the 26th April 2024.
Players were provided with two options: Liberate either Choohe or Penta, and depending on the outcome, they would get either the MD-17 Anti-Tank Mines or the RL-77 Airburst Rocket Launcher. The community united and chose the RL-77 Airburst Rocket Launcher.
Helldivers 2 is available on PlayStation 5 and Windows.
