Surviving the wastelands in Fallout games isn’t exactly a cakewalk, but Todd Howard, who directed several of the franchise’s games, had some tips that may help the players keep the body and soul together in the post-apocalyptic world. The ones who’ve watched it, know that the creators understood the assignment thoroughly and they are in for a visual treat.
The resemblance with the game is just unparalleled. However, not all are happy with Jonathan Nolan’s TV adaptation of the popular video game franchise. Despite the positive ratings, they believe it doesn’t live up to the mark. As they say, the world is an extremely unreliable critic. Currently, the show has a rating of 4.7 out of 5 on Google based on over 1600 ratings.
Todd Howards Says Health Is the Ultimate Wealth
In one recent interview, Todd Howard discussed Fallout and potential TV adaptations of Bethesda games. While he discussed the future, he also happened to share a couple of tricks that players may just find handy if they ever experience something like the game in real life.
The interviewer asked him about the best real-life survival tip for people if they ever come across similar situations featured in the game. Here’s what he said:
Go for the antibiotics. And high-calorie food.
Although this may never come true, post-apocalyptic worlds are a gamer’s dream. Add zombies to it and they are in for a treat. Fallout is among the games where players will find themselves in similar situations, be it the campaign or the Survival Mode which was introduced in the fourth title.
The same is the case with the TV adaptation of the franchise. Akin to the game, it features Vault dwellers, a term referring to the ones living in Vault-Tec Vaults. The show follows Lucy MacLean (played by Ella Purnell), a young vault dweller whose exploration of post-apocalyptic wastelands becomes a horrible experience as she fights for survival in the open.
Fans May Get to Know the World Better After the Great War
It’s not just the survival tips that came out from Todd Howard. He also discussed how the show is superior in one certain aspect.
He believes the TV adaptation allows them to tell about the past in a better way. According to Todd:
One of the best things about Fallout is the world before the bombs fell. It’s really unique, this post-nuclear future that we wanted to have and then it all goes wrong. And the show has the ability to show the past in a way the games never did.
The world shown in the game is changed forever after The Great War. In an alternate history of the Earth, natural resources ran out while several small nations collapsed, making survival difficult for people.
While life seemingly is easier for the ones living in the settlements, it would take more than the will to survive for the Vault dweller Lucy.
