Efron and Kidman’s sizzling chemistry has been a topic of discussion ever since Netflix released the film’s trailer. And the actor recently reflected on their remarkable on-screen connection, particularly highlighting their comfort while filming intimate scenes.
Zac Efron Opens Up About His On-Screen Chemistry with Nicole Kidman
Zac Efron is reuniting with his former co-star Nicole Kidman in the upcoming romantic comedy film A Family Affair. Speaking with Extra at the film’s L.A. premiere, Efron reflected on once again sharing the screen with the Oscar-winning actress.
He recounted that Kidman was the one who swayed him to join the project while sharing his admiration for his co-star. When asked about their intimate scenes, Efron admitted feeling at ease and comfortable working with the Expats star, as he noted that he has overcome any intimidation between them.
“We’re a little too comfortable,” he said, attributing their on-screen chemistry to their mutual trust and Kidman’s innovative approch every time. “I don’t know what it is. It’s just trust,” The Iron Claw star said before adding,
She’s always finding new fun things to do in the scene and she’s discovering new things as she goes… She leads with love, so there’s nobody better to really have as your partner in a scene.
He also shared that he was thrilled when he received the call from Kidman for the movie and their shared history and strong connection made the opportunity feel very special to him. Efron and Kidman earlier shared a similar dynamic in the 2012 crime drama The Paperboy.
Nicole Kidman Wanted to Have Fun After Intense Project
Nicole Kidman is portraying Zara Ford’s (Joey King) mother in the upcoming Netflix film A Family Project. During the film’s premiere, the actress also reflected on her decision to star in the romantic comedy. Kidman shared that following a series of intense dramatic projects, she just wanted to do something fun.
As per The Hollywood Reporter, she said,
I had done Expats, which took so much out of my soul, and so I was like, OK, I’m not producing this, I’m a hired actor and I’m happy to show up and be a part of the team and have fun.
Kidman recently starred in a miniseries Expats, which explores the lives of a group of expatriates living in Hong Kong delving into their personal and professional struggles.
She shared that she did not have much stress working on A Family Affair and enjoyed working in a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere. “There wasn’t so much stress, which is kind of nice, I have to say, because so many of them are very stressful,” she further said, emphasizing her pleasant experience.
A Family Affair is set to premiere on Netflix on June 28, 2024.
