Arrowhead Game Studios’ Helldivers 2 has been a popular video game among gamers for the past few months, however, the game is now slowly losing its fanbase. There are various reasons behind it but lack of content is the biggest reason. High-level players who have managed to unlock everything in the game are now getting bored since missions get repetitive. The CCO of Arrowhead, Johan Pilestedt, is now directly asking fans to explain why they are leaving the game.

Arrowhead has confirmed that a major update will roll out on June 13th with the Viper Commandos Premium Warbond. This update will feature many changes and buffs to unused stratagems, plus Pilestedt hinted that maybe “some old/new threats” are also coming to the game.

The Chief Creative Officer of Arrowhead, Johan Pilestedt, has been hyping up the upcoming Helldivers 2 patch on his X account but unfortunately, many players pointed out the game’s popularity is dying. In response, Pilestedt asked one player on X to explain why.
Hey, what made you lose your hype? Asking for a friend. 🤔

Helldivers 2 was a massive success at the time of its release but the game has lost a significant number of players over the past few weeks and Arrowhead can be partly blamed for it. The community didn’t like the Premium Warbonds and the lack of new content forced many players to uninstall the game.
The tipping point was when Sony and Arrowhead tried implementing the PSN account linking policy for PC players. Thanks to the community’s efforts, the policy was revoked but Helldivers 2 has been banned in 180 countries since then.

The Helldivers 2 community didn’t hold back when Pilestedt asked them what’s wrong with the game. From weapon balancing to Discord moderators, players listed out everything that is currently killing the game.
The nerfs. Every good setup constantly being upended.

Your lead balance designer known for running a different game into the ground, to start. Anti-stratagem conditions make the game harder and not in a fun way, weapons are dumbed down and other weapons are not brought up, so instead it creates more middling options.

Knowing that the game is banned in 170+ countries and that Arrowhead is powerless to do anything about it. Half the active player base is gone from being blocked from playing or disappointed in Sony's lackluster decision-making

The reason why people fall into "meta builds" isn't because the weapons are overpowered. It's because the alternatives aren't viable. The massive nerfs add an artificial difficulty and attempt to micromanage your player base's definition of fun.
Buff the weaker weapons to make…

Patch after patch game becoming more tedious and less fun, and each patch introducing more bugs that break the game.
Is what made me lose hype.
Tomorrow's patch is either make me play again, or uninstall the game for feasible future.
It's a PVE game, why can't we have fun?— Peath_58 (@Kel_Villent) June 12, 2024
Sir, the balance has been all over the place lately, and the discord server is becoming increasingly unwelcoming, with mods going drunk on power and stuff

These problems need to be addressed in the next patch as the game is constantly losing players. Pilestedt hinted in an X post that “some old/new threats” might be coming soon. This is obviously about the Illuminate as the threat is new for Helldivers 2 but technically they’re old threats because players believe that they will use the newly formed black hole to travel from the past to the present.
Helldivers 2 is available on Windows and PlayStation 5.
