Dune hops on the viral ad list after Star Wars trilogy re-surfaced product ad
A few days ago, an X user took to their social media to remind the audience of one of the most perfectly placed product ads. The user mentioned that when the Star Wars trilogy started to air in Chile back in 2003, to avoid the interruptions with commercials and disrupt the flow of the viewers, a montage was inserted in the movie.
A montage was inserted to make it look like it’s a part of the movie while in reality it was made to promote a beer brand. The commercial was a part of the series The Force is with Crystal Beer and it showcased Luke Skywalker and Emperor Palpatine engaging in a conversation and enjoying a beer. Now, another X user decided to use After Effects to make a scene from Denis Villeneuve’s movie to promote Cristal Beer featuring Timothée Chalamet.
The user captioned the video, ‘Caught the first Dune on Chilean TV the other night, can’t believe they’re still at it’ hilariously pointing out the Star Wars trilogy ad from 2003. Fans took their take on the made-up commercial for Cristal Beer with some of them mentioning ‘I could watch clips like this for hours,’ with a lot of them appreciating the user for executing an ad just like the Star Wars trilogy.

This great marketing and I would like to drink a lot of these beers
— worth (@WB_BearFighter) March 5, 2024
Users also pointed out that this is a great marketing move and would make fans curious about the beer. The re-surfaced clip of the Star Wars trilogy where the beer is perfectly placed has drawn a lot of attention to the beer brand with more Cerveza Cristal ads being resurfaced online.
Denis Villeneuve shares about a painful choice he had to make for Dune: Part Two
In a recent cover story for EW, director Denis Villeneuve shared about the hardest choice he had to make while filming the sequel movie. He said,
“When you adapt, there’s always some kind of violence towards the original material. You have to change things, you have to bend, you have to make painful choices.”
Talking about the choice that he had to make did not include the character of Thufir Hawat played by Stephen McKinley Henderson. He explained that he‘s a character that he loves but had to decide in the beginning that the adaptation would be of Bene Gesserit, which meant that Mentats would not appear, as they should.
The filmmaker mentioned that the movie focuses more on the machinations of the Bene Gesserit. One of the other choices that Denis Villeneuve made was giving Zendaya’s character Fremen warrior Chani much more independence in the movie compared to how her character had been written on paper. Chani expresses open opposition to the ascension of her lover Paul Atrides to the status of Fremen messiah.
Dune is streaming on HBO Max while Dune: Part Two is playing in theatres.
