10. Loki

Avengers: Infinity War (2018)

Many deaths occurred in Avengers: Endgame and Infinity War, but when Loki died at the start, fans understood the threat level immediately. In the end, Thanos just choked Loki to death in front of his brother, despite Loki’s best efforts to outwit and outsmart him. This time, Loki just stayed dead, contrary to Thor’s belief that he might be able to survive.

9. Vision

Avengers: Infinity War (2018)

Vision knew that the power of the Mind Stone was what kept him alive and his beloved Wanda was the only one who could destroy it. At great personal risk, Wanda followed Vision’s insistence that she remove the stone and kill him; nevertheless, Thanos used time travel to make her see his own death of Vision before taking the stone for himself.

Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015)

In Age of Ultron, Pietro Maximoff made his debut as Quicksilver. Fans weren’t expecting to spend so little time with the new team member after Quicksilver gave his life to protect Hawkeye and a young boy from a barrage of gunfire, shocking audiences.

Avengers: Infinity War (2018)

In Avengers: Infinity War, Thanos came to the realization that in order to obtain the Soul Stone, he had to sacrifice the life of someone he genuinely loved, and Gamora was that person. The audience’s mourning for Gamora got even worse when the Guardians found out about her passing and Peter Quill became emotionally compromised and ruining the heroes chance to finally stop Thanos.

6. Aunt May

Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021)

During a confrontation with Green Goblin, Aunt May is killed in an explosion caused by the villain, but not before giving Peter the famous words fans are used to hearing from Uncle Ben instead. Though many tears were shed in the theaters when No Way Home was released, Aunt May’s lesson about power and responsibility became an integral moment for Tom Holland’s Peter Parker to go from being Spider-Boy to Spider-Man.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (2017)

Yondu Udonta originally appeared as an enemy who opposed the titular Guardians, if not an outright anti-hero, when he first made his appearance in the Guardians of the Galaxy. But as he began to open up to Peter Quill and communicate, their relationship wasn’t all that horrible. Not until Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 did Yondu finally open up to Peter about the truth of his early years.

4. Natasha Romanoff / Black Widow

Avengers: Endgame (2019)

Consequently, fans were shocked when Natasha Romanoff became the first of the original six to pass away. She had to give something up in order for her and Clint Barton to get the Soul Stone. Natasha decided to give herself up. While some fans would have much rather seen Hawkeye die; they were shocked and saddened to lose Nat.

T’Challa was more than simply a character, but an icon, and Boseman’s portrayal gave the part more nuance and dignity. No one could possibly play T’Challa except Chadwick Boseman, as of Boseman’s death, as to the character.

Avengers: Endgame (2019)

Tony’s sacrifice at the end of Avengers: Endgame is the saddest death in the series. Stark had to act first to stop Thanos from losing his cool, and he lost his life in the process. The audience witnessed his ultimate attempt to move on and lead a typical life, accompanied by a kid and all the things he was leaving behind.

Fans watched as some of their favorite heroes like Star-Lord, Dr. Strange, Black Panther, and even Spider-Man turned into dust.
