Roughly two decades ago, Activision kicked off the Call of Duty franchise with 2003’s Call of Duty. Developed by Infinity Ward, the game laid down the foundation of the Call of Duty franchise we have today. Since then, more than 20 games in the main series, including Warzone and Warzone 2. The series has drastically changed with each game but there was one particular game in the series that was a massive jump: Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare.
Before Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, the Call of Duty franchise was known for staying grounded in terms of weaponry and technology. In simple words, Advanced Warfare flipped the table with an imaginary futuristic setting and the concept of exo-suits. The game was revealed to the players exactly 10 years ago today, and it’s safe to say that players have now realized how good it was.
Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare was revealed exactly 10 years ago
CharlieIntel on X has taken Call of Duty players on a trip down memory lane as in an X post, gamers were reminded that Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare was first revealed to the players exactly 10 years ago today. The game was released on November 4, 2014, and was widely hated for its single-player campaign, and fast-paced gameplay. Looking back at it, many players are now calling the game underrated as they realize that they may have been very harsh on it initially.
Underrated gem. CoD was so refreshing during this era, regardless of the issues the game had with Pay to Win.
I'd hands down choose Advanced Warfare over EVERY SINGLE release since, except Black Ops 3 and Cold War.
Not even just for the Zombies, the game was built with love.

Judging by the fans’ reaction, Activision can work on a remastered version of the game as many players also wished to see this happen. It is unclear whether players will get a remastered version but as a community, fans do have the power to make it possible. There are rumors about a potential sequel to this game but it seems like players will not get it any time soon.
Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare was hated for its futuristic setting
Technically, 2012’s Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 was the first game to set up the story in a future setting but Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare took players way further into the future, particularly between 2054 and 2061. As for the game’s story, not everyone was a huge fan of it mainly because of the predictable plot.
There were mixed reactions but everyone agreed that the game was better than its predecessor, Call of Duty: Ghosts, which was heavily criticized for predictive and boring single-player campaign. In the end, Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare played a key role in paving the way for future Call of Duty games and at the same time, proved to be very financially beneficial for the studios as the game was one of the best-selling games of 2014.
Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare is available on PlayStation 4, Windows, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360.
