14 Times Actors Paid Tribute To Their Characters On The Red Carpet

1. Throughout the promos of Spider-Man: No Way Home, Zendaya donned Spider-Man-themed looks. Her most iconic one though was this webbed Valentino gown paired with a superhero mask.

2. On one of the Matrix: Resurections promos, Carrie-Anne Moss wore a custom Oscar de la Renta gown. It had the digital rain computer code embedded and it the stitchings read “Oscar de la Renta”.

3. During the premiere of Beauty and The Beast, Emma Watson wore an Oscar de la Renta jumpsuit that gave a nod to the enchanted rose. The dress had a rose pin at the hip. She even had gold leaves woven throughout her hair.

4. The rings that Scarlett Johansson wore to the Avengers: Endgame world premiere were inspired by Thanos’ infinity gauntlet. She got them as a gift from Colin Jost and it was handmade by Sonia Boyajian. The centerpiece could even be worn as a pendant.

5. Even Brie Larson wore gauntlet-inspired design jewelry on the same premiere. Hers was made by Irene Neuwirth and had a large bracelet acting as the center stone.

6. Even during the promos of Captain Marvel, Brie Larson added a Marvel touch to her outfits. She carried this custom made “Captain” Edie Parker clutch.

7. The Dundas outfit that H.E.R. wore to the 2021 Oscars was a nod to Prince’s 1985 Oscars look. However, the embellishment on her hood was a shoutout to her track from the movie Judas and the Black Messiah, “Fight for You.”

8. When Michelle Yeoh walked the Golden Globes red carpet in 2019, she wore the iconic engagement ring from Crazy Rich Asians. Turns out it’s actually her ring — In an interview with E!, she said, “This is my own ring; it was such a character in the film, so it had to be instantly recognizable. The color green is about life, prosperity…and with Eleanor, since she’s so particular, I knew the ring that she would wear.”

9. When she was promoting her film Us in New York, Lupita Nyong’o brought horror vibes to the red carpet. She gave a direct reference to her film by donning a ring with a mini scissor on top of it. 

10. Elle Fanning wore this Gucci dress with blood drops at the Maleficent: Mistress of Evil premiere where she gave a reference to Sleeping Beauty.

11. Lily James gave a shout-out to her Cinderella shoes on the red carpet by wearing a Louboutin version, as well as a Charlotte Olympia clock bag

12. When she appeared on the Mexican premiere of her musical drama The Greatest Showman, Zendaya dressed up in an attire similar to the ringmaster. 

13. While doing promos of her film A Simple Favor, Blake Lively wore outfits similar to the signature suits her character Emily Nelson wore in the movie. She donned this Ralph Lauren ensemble at the UK premiere.

14. At the LA premiere of her film, Lady Gaga paid homage to the 1976 Barbra Streisand version of A Star Is Born by wearing this Givenchy gown.
